Applying for unemployment benefits can be complicated, so we put together these resources to help you navigate.
What is it called?
The Utah Department of Workforce Services Department runs the state’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) program.

The fastest way to file a claim is online. To begin this process click here. You can file online available from 11:45 PM-2AM, Monday-Sunday.
Phone (existing claims only)
You may not file a new claim over the phone, but assistance for existing claims and other questions is available by telephone. For questions regarding an existing claim or UI benefits in general, please call the Claims Assistance and Re-Employment Team at:

Info you need to apply
To apply for unemployment, you need to provide personal information including:
- Your Social Security Number
- The names of all employers as they appear on your pay stub with the dates worked for all employers since January 1, 2019
- The name and local number of your union hall, if you obtain work through a union
- Your State Driver's License or Identification Card number, if you have one
- Your Alien Registration Number, if you are not a U.S. citizen but are legally authorized to work in the United States
- If you have any non-Utah employers, you must have an accurate mailing address and phone number for them
