I hate looking for a job, when you older they use some other reason why they cant hire you. When you are healthy older person lot of times they are harder workers then young ones.

This is probably the second time I've posted here but I've tried just about everything I can think of. I've applied to fast food industries, ice cream shops, dish washing positions, putting myself online for babysitting, and even room attendants for hotels and still no one has made a effort to contact me, email or anything. I recently turned 17 and have been filling out applications since the beginning of May, it is now July and school is next month. I'm starting to think if it is even worth the time to keep applying since school is going to start back up and no one wants to have to deal with a young workers school schedule. By the time I realized I should be calling to check in on the status of my application it had already been a whole month afterward and I figured they had already given the position to someone else. Are there any suggestions now that I'm at my wits end?

As some of you know I have been job hunting since quitting my job of 26 yrs last September. I have been on every job board/site (put my resume' out everywhere), filled out application after application, I have had temp & direct hire jobs for the last 9 months and nothing seemed to work out?

I read every post that comes into my email and want to comment but I don't so going to put it here:

1: I see age come into play all the time (I will be 47 in two weeks), everyone wants the cute young kids/interns, less money, no experience, etc...but little do they know most of those kids are not going to stick around for the long term.

2: Pretty/cute...different story there. I lost 2 jobs because I think the owners (both women) were jealous (not because I was pretty/cute (I am not)) but because of my personality....I hadn't met some of the clients/costumers at one place but they always asked to talk to me, the other I had met the workers and she always yelled at them.

3: Qualified...I applied for everything from my job field to maybe something I am qualified for to jobs I did 30 yrs ago....nope not qualified (Really?) I even applied for a nationwide pet store to clean cages (I have had dogs, cats, hamsters, ferrets, horses, ponies, fish (freshwater & saltwater), a skunk, guinea pigs, chickens, guinea birds, snakes & currently 2 pigs, 2 pygmy goats, 4 dogs and a cat) and was told I wasn't qualified!

4: Drug test/Background checks....I did get hired after the 2nd interview that I made a snafu on ($72 million/year) last Friday, the drug test was done in about 10 minutes, I was called on Tuesday that the background check came through....so 5 days counting the weekend?

I start on Tuesday (not my job field but something I am capable of doing)...there is something out there for everyone and you will find yours....I just hope this is the last job I have to interview for (I do have a 90 day probation period, was offered $1.50 more that they told me and I get a chance for a raise every 90 day and benefits).

Preparing to #EEOC interview on the Topic of #Hiring #Age #Discrimination

I am a long time Mainframe Adabas/Natural Programmer/Analyst who spent too much career time with this really very good product (1985-2014). I also worked and working with Visual Studio (more VB and less C# but not at work) and SQL Server (at work, 2003-2014). I am doing home projects with all these Microsoft Products: SQL (BI, SSIS, ETL), VB, Excel, Access.

One of these projects: my job search tracking. Between May and November 2016, I've submitted 750 job applications and had 35 interviews. As of today, zero job offers.

There is a link to my blog: http://www.michaelealfes.com/blog/my-job-search-status-detailed-report-as-prepared-for-eeoc with attached detail report of my job search and its zero results. http://www.michaelealfes.com/uploads/4/7/6/2/47624087/michael_alfes_-_job_application_log_20161106.pdf

Hi Jocelynn: Thanks for posting to Jobcase! Your best bet to find out their age requirements is to contact Sprouts 224 directly. Ask to speak to a hiring manager. Best of luck!

How old are kids usually when they start daycare? I need them to go for about five hours while I’m at work.
