I have applied for several jobs here that I am qualified for and it appears because I am in my 60's no one wants to hire. How do you overcome this obstacle. I want to work and be productive, do not want to retire so how do you get this across to employers?

I got laid off yesterday (Merry Christmas). I have 2 questions:
- The last time I applied for jobs was 1984. What are "interview clothes" these days for middle management positions?
- How bad is the age discrimination in Silicon Valley?

Reevaluate the company and make sure that you will be happy with a company allows any discrimination.

Hi Folks, I'm 60 years old and got laid off a couple of months ago from my Material Systems Analyst job after 15 years. I'm not yet ready for retirement, but I can't seem to even buy a job! Any advice would be much appreciated as I am very terrified right now.

I've applied everywhere to bartend (banquet bartending my favorite) but I'm being discriminated against because of my age! I'm great at what I do and no one will give me the time of day after I submit my resume with years of experience. So to all of those potential employers out there --> I'm a 58 year old female but don't look or act like it! I'm not dead just getting a little older....happens to everyone.
