I went to school at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. Clearly one of the highlights of my life. Perhaps it was because I was 18 years of age. But in an amazingly scenic small city and rural area near the beach, mountains and and significant cultural/historic setting, the school emphasized, "learn by doing". Projects, not just books and essay papers, were the main draw of the school. You not only learned your major; mine was in the School of Architecture and Environmental Design; you learned from the other students, who had majors from mechanical engineering to animal husbandry because projects were being developed out in the open; everywhere.
