I have been applying for positions in the manufacturing field as a assembler. I've been applying to plenty of jobs but one particular company I've applied several times. I finally received a call from this company for a Entry-level assembler. I went to my first interview and it was amazing. The guy Mike I spoke with was happy and seemed to like me and my attitude. He admitted he had plenty of candidates that are more qualified but I stood out. He scheduled me today to meet with his superiors. Yesterday we talked about directions for me to get there today a bit quicker and unfortunately I got lost. Please understand that I left my house twenty minutes away almost a hour early just to get there early. However, I panicked because I didn't see my exit and I ended up taking a exit I didn't need to take but turned around and got back on the highway. I took a shot in the dark and took a exit hoping it would take me where I needed to go. The area I was in wasn't a great area and I was crunched for time and panicking so I didn't stop for directions and can't currently afford a cell phone. Fortunately I made it but ten minutes late. The gentleman was standing at the desk when I walked in the building, of course I'm trying to hold back the tears, and simply looked disappointed. He could see the stress on my face but basically can't put himself on the line for me. I understand but prayed this would be my chance. He was going to look at another candidate and told me keep my head high and keep the positive attitude. I assembled a part they make there and was so proud. I need a career not a job and this was exactly the career to challenge me and help me support my two teenage boys and myself. I know it's my fault but I am taking it hard and have no one to talk to. I'm extremely scared. I have perfect attendance records with previous employers and a reference letter I worked years for very hard and made many sacrifices and am very proud of. It's truly not about feeling sorry for myself but I can't stop crying this has affected me and I'm scared and wish someone could understand what I'm feeling inside. I'm angry. This was my shot. I blew it in ten minutes.

Don't talk about money or raises. that way you won't be disappointed when you find out you're being paid less for the same job expectations. Do not share your personal life. keep it to yourself.
