Earl, if you want people to be able to answer a question about a company, you might need to ask people who actually worked there.

My goal is to have a classroom of my own. One where all the students feel included and have the opportunity to hit all of their academic goals. This will be found in hard work centered around equity, passion for learning, kindness, support for students and families, community partnerships, and showing students how to make the world a better place. The need for quality education through shared responsibility in a safe, supportive environment is a necessity of such a passionate learning environment. Additionally, preparing students to become lifelong learners in the classroom as well as in the real world, is something that I place a strong value on. I believe that providing adolescent learners with a challenging curriculum that connects to their lives and future in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment will greatly benefit them later in life.

Some states will not allow you to ask and also make it illegal to have criminal history request on application; Colorado. Kitchens are usually full of felons. But both Pedophiles and Drunk Drivers are felons so there is a wide range, and an honest conversation, if you can have one, goes a long way.

For high paying positions, companies, such as insurance ones, always seem to want to know if you have a felony or misdemeanor. If you tell them the former, you don’t have a chance. If you admit the latter, you don’t know how they are going to treat you. So frustrating or discouraging, especially when you already “paid your dues.” Any circumvention?

Background checks

I have seen posts inquiring about background checks. Background screenings allow employers to get a more complete picture of a candidate. This helps give them insight to hire the most qualified people and improve productivity, prevent instances of theft and other criminal behavior, and avoid workplace harassment and safety issues.

Jobcase offers resources for Understanding background checks.

Recently I applied top goodwill industry and was upfront about my background and was given a job offer. After the background check came back they denied me a job offer. My background is not the best and I admit that. But it is sad that Goodwill has stated that they are a second chance employer and have denied me that second chance at having employment based on my background. Now I need to know what is it that I can do about this and stop the company from making bold statements and not follow through with their promises about being a second chance employer knowing full well that they are not.
