The recruiter I was working with had set up an interview for me today with a local company. The interview was quick (about 30 minutes) and the person barely asked me any questions about my work history. She then turned to me and said that she would be training me, but that she would be out most of next week? She also told me that she doesn't work well with other women and gave me a strange look. The company mostly had men working there with only 2 women. She stated that I should be prepared for a lot of cussing. She says with all the men around, they tend to cuss a lot, and that she also cusses pretty regularly in the office. Really?! She then wanted to know how quickly I could start. I'm not sure I want to start at all. The money is good, but I didn't get the vibe from the interviewer that she liked me very much. It seemed more like they wanted a body to fill in while she was out and not a permanent hire. I'm thinking of refusing, is that crazy?

This is the second year in a row where my company has promised all the drivers a bbq lunch for drivers appreciation week.. Except it was also such a busy week that not a single driver was in the yard during the day they chose to have the actual BBQ so it was just the dispatchers and office workers that got the free lunch. They also usually give out a bunch of branded stuff, which is cool and all but everything was already gone by the time anyone had rolled back in. what the hell is the point of a week to appreciate the drivers if everything just goes to the people in the office!?! Does no one else find that ridiculous??

I worked for a company which cares for the physically and mentally challenged. Last Thursday I was told not to come to work because I was under investigation. I asked why? I was completely surprised and angry. He said he could not tell me anything. I have worked there for a year. The person who filed the complaint was new to the group home and the patients. I was told by a friend that the patient in question was asked if anything happened while I was on duty, and he said no. I called Human Resources, and HR did not know anything about it. They even asked me who told me not to report to work. I told them the person's name. The HR person said she would try to find out what is going on. The week before my supervisor gave me an excellent evaluation. I am totally confused at this point. Anyone ever go through the same experience? Thank you for any insights.

I was called yesterday for a job interview. I interviewed today for a social work position with a retirement/skills assistant facility. I lacked experience working as a social worker with the elderly. However, I worked with the elderly in the late 80s and early 90s as a private nursing assistance. The interviewer stated that I had the social work skills that she was looking for. I have heard this over and over again, but never hire. I was told she had to interview others and she wanted to call me for a second interview. Please pray for me and wish me good luck that I get the job. This agency appears to be a place I will love to work, with less stress that I am use to in child protection. If I am call back for a second interview, what should I expect?

The workplace is loaded with a variety of different people with varying personalities and the interviewer wants to know how you think you will fit in.

  • Are you able to get along with different types of people?
  • Do you have the skills to deal with other people of varying personalities?

You want to show the interviewer that it does not matter what kind of people you work with - just that work gets done. This shows the interviewer that you are more concerned with outcomes than personalities.

I just started at a call center a few weeks ago and Ive got to admit Im really liking it so far. Ive worked all sorts of different places from fast food to a metal plant to dishwashing to retail and Ive never had a job that Ive liked as much as this one. So for those of you looking and having trouble finding a good job my advice is try a call center. The one I work for is results and when I go in to work every day I see nothing but smiling faces and happy employees. Now there are some people that just arent cut out for a desk job,but for what Im making starting out,the benefits they offer, and the companies efforts to keep happy employees with cautious optimism Id go so far as to say so far this is the best place Ive ever worked.
