I just recently acquired a job (so i thought) with a timeshare company named "" Bluegreen. I had worked for them in the past and was very happy to be a part of their program again. However after i filled out the application for employment and was told i had the job i had to wait for a pee test email to come so i could get tested pass then start. That email never came. I called everyday for a little less than a week and was told "it should be there tomorrow." this was said every time i called. Then the last time i called i was told the new hires and the rehires were on hold for a couple of days. Again this was after a little less than a week of being told i had the job and waiting on the pee test email. Make sense so far? I finally get a text from the gentelman that hired me saying the program i was hired for was shut down. So no job. what i find upsetting is i stopped looking and appling for jobs during the time i was made to belive i had this position. what im trying to understand is there something wrong with the misrepresentation of having the job? Also, loosing all that time trying to find a job is a huge set back. Can anything be done as in a complaint, a rebuttal or something. does anyone have an answer?
Paul

In a state where pot is legal, what would a prospective employer do if it is detected?

Not a good idea under most circumstances. You can form alliances but keep the, proverbial, pistol cocked.

Hello everybody!

Last Thursday I was interviewed for a job, and Friday morning, I received a call saying that they would like to go ahead and start the screening process. I asked "does this mean I got the job?" and she replied, "Yes, you got the job"

So I went Friday afternoon to sign the paperwork to due to my background check and to get the paperwork to do a drug screen. She then said, "I'm hoping for your start date to be Monday, February 6th"

Yesterday morning, I sent an email to confirm my start date, and that she could go ahead and run the background check. Her exact response was...

"The start date isn't a positive thing right now while I'm working through these issues. Additionally, I can't send the background information until they release the information but I'm actively working on it."

What does this mean? Should I maybe start doing another job search just as a backup? I don't want her to forget about me or retract the job offer. :-(

When a drug test is given for employment new hire, does it screen for tobacco or alcohol, and they don't mention it? Urine test? Blood draw?

Im a trucker and drug tests first started with us because of the wrecks do to the SPEED, Up too long and trying to get freight there on time. All other employers do it to make themselves look better in the eyes of potential clients and the public in general. I have to say i agree with Bruno, thst a better way is needed. Example: I went in for a pre employment drug screen where i had to pee in one cup and then stop in mid stream and pee in another for the feds. Two weeks later i was told i was given the wrong test and had to go in and pee again. A month went by and the computer randomly picked me for another one. ITs a pain in the....when time is money

So I recently got a job two states away. I went to the Job trailer filled out my application and paperwork. There were two of us in that day getting hired. They administer the drug test via their safety guy. It was 21 degrees that morning snow on the ground. They handed both of us each a cup and told us to go outside to the portable bathrooms. The other guy went first no sooner was he done I went. I proceeded to come inside he was still messing around with the other guys test for about 4 minutes 2/8 minutes then he proceeded to test mine. I passed the drug test part of it. But the temperature was 1.8 degrees lower than it should be by what he said. My first question is don't they take the temperature first there was about a time-lapse of 8 to 10 minutes and mind you it was cold and outside. They then proceeded to tell me I needed to take another test within two hours if I didn't take the test within 2 hours I would not be hired. I seriously could not go I drink 9 bottles of water because I really needed this job to states away. They told me they would have to watch me go because they thought I cheated the test. And also the guy that administer the test proceeded to belittle me in front of others assuming that I was dirty I don't know what to think I've been researching it and there's a lot of discrepancies within that somebody please answer me back thank you
