The Job News South Florida Job Fair will be held Wednesday, February 22nd from 10a - 2p, at the Crowne Plaza, 13051 Bell Tower Drive Fort Myers, FL 33907.

Follow this link to view a full list of employers attending this event - http://sales.jobnewsusa.com/p/nla94qve

How to GET HIRED:

  1. Visit jobnewsusa.com/southflorida before the event and pre-register (you can also do this at the door). On the site you will be able to view the event directory so you can see who's hiring and what jobs are available.

  2. Get a game plan and research companies of interest from the directory. Develop tailored resumes for the companies you want to apply with.

  3. Have a clear career focus. Be prepared with an answer to one of the first questions each recruiter is going to ask you: “So, why are you here?”.

  4. Sharpen and rehearse your elevator speech. Your elevator speech can be a great response to the typical interview question, “tell me about yourself”

  5. Prepare and practice responses to typical interview questions. “Tell me what you know about our organization” and “Why do you want to work here?”

  6. Sketch out a few questions to ask each recruiter.

  7. Dress professionally! Clean-cut, well-fitting, conservative. Bring breath mints!

  8. Make a good first and lasting impression! Wait patiently in line for your chance to chat with the recruiter and make sure you ask for their contact information before leaving.

  9. Jot down notes as soon as you are done with the recruiter and include these notes in your thank you email that you will send when you get home.

  10. Follow up!

  11. Make sure you arrange for child care the day of the event. You wouldn’t bring your child to an interview – don’t bring them to Career Fair. Career Fairs should be viewed as 30 interviews in one day!

Hi Every one if you are looking for a career where you can either work for some one or your self. I'm a OVER THE ROAD TRUCKER it's been a blast since I got it to this business as long as you are comfortable with you because you spend a lot of time with just you must like you. Have a self employment mind set even when you work for your self I get my loads from QUALCOM messenger system the only why I talk to anyone expect for family and friends is if the truck breaks down or if I have a question about the load is the only time I talk to dispatch , safety or anyone else in the company . If you can take care of business get you picks and drops done on time no one is going to bother you. I spend 70 a week on the road by myself I drive solo. after 3 weeks with a trainer. After the trainer I spent 6 months as a company driver. YES making 1,000.00 to 1,300.00 week or 68,000.00 my first year if you like to hustle . I run 2,800 to 3,500 MILES and some times more a week on the average. Yes I have run 3,800 to 4,200 miles on from time to time. You can do teams or solo . We need drivers OTR , REGIONAL , DEDICATED or LOCAL. All companies are in need of drivers. Get your CDL class A license and HAVE A PLAN. I do I'm OWNER OPERATOR running under the companies authority . I LOVE WHAT I DO.

If you need extra money while you are diligently trying to find employment (the endless resume submissions to companies that you rarely get a reply from - I am an avid reader of JOBCASE stories.) My older brother and I both have done this for 3 years in a row. Florists need extra drivers on Valentine's Day. We've worked delivering in a large city, and this year in a much smaller community. The set up is different on how much they pay, or if you drive a company vehicle or your own - some will pay for your gasoline - it's a fun way to earn some money - the flowers, chocolates, wine, and small gifts make you smile, and delivering to hospitals, businesses, schools, churches, and residents is a very positive experience - especially when we all feel rather discouraged and unsure because we are fighters trying hard to get a solid job. You will feel good when you get home from this job, and you will have money in your pocket too. I worked in an office for executives for decades - if I can do it - YOU can do it. (And if anything - you get to see your community on a more personal level - and see people actually smile...how often does that happen on average? )
