I'd been my own boss for 40 so I was not used working under the direction or at the whim of another person. applied for a short term job for which I was well qualified and was quite surprised when they did not offer me the job.

Has anyone went from company owner to employee? Any suggestions?

Corporate world is frustrating. My husband got laidoff about 3 weeks ago after working so hard for this company. The company sent him on a business trip came back and he no longer had a job. After he got laid off, we decided to do our own business. Being your own boss, you never get fired by anyone. You clock in and out on your own time. We are into insurance and investment business. If you would like to join our new business please send me a post. We are looking into working with more people to grow this business together.
Thank you, Jeneh

Starting up my first company service including snow removal and summer lawn care any advice

Well, first off I needed a job to help support my living arrangements then later on my necessities. And then the boss/owner was going through a back surgery that caused him to perform poorly through each service. He promised to take notice of healthcare and superficial wound repairs and then compensate me bonuses and all that which you would like to hear. For three straight years not one day missed, might not been on time every morning, but when it was time to get the job done. I was his "main man." We would go through at least 30 men per year. None performed well enough as I did within timeframe of training. This causes him to delay other customers in the business. And much more stress on my body. He told me one day he was gonna take care of me. Such as let me work my own hours. And get the work truck to help him out. The more I asked, the more he regimed, so I figured he just didn't want to let me know what all he actually needed help with. Well the work was outside so extreme heat advisory would somehow fall into aspect, but you could guess he would most certainly try to make you feel like less of a man if you didn't proceed through the heat and sometimes extremely cold temperatures. His Brother Dennis help runs the company. That is who I believe had a lot to do in my lay off. One day, the first time he gives me a truck to go somewhere without him, I ended up in Sunflower, MS, just about 8 miles up the road from where I live. I go to help his brother spread dirt around apartment homes, like tractors. He had some guys working there already, and I brought my guy. Well we spread dirt around 4 quadruplexes before they finish 2. He sends them to break early, then 32 min later, me. He had been saying park the truck in a different spot all day because other contractors were there. But I ended up driving the pickup in which I came(drove) to work in to the convenient store right up the road. Well when I get back he was talking to a lot of people when we left the store. But tells me that he told me to park the truck, never to move it again. So me thinking that this was my boss man truck, says" that this is not your truck," to be telling me to not move it when other people have sat aside watching spread dirt like a tractor and he is riding on one delivering to low spots he simply could've driven the tractor across. So my response to the truck's parking might wasn't delivered stabily, but before that he'd been picking and nagging my work ethic , even though the two guys he had, didn't know what they were doing. So my response left him upset and he sent me walking 10 miles to my destination no pay. So after 3 years with Woods Lawn Care I just realized that I need to work for myself or companies that care if I'm alive the next day.

I've had a dream all my life only because I'm extremely good at it. My own bed and breakfast. Elite. I've searched many avenues but need help getting the information. With working while I was and a single parent you truly don't have any time to focus on "you" because your life is your child. She's going to be 19 soon and already living on her own. I have wanted this since I was 17 year's old. Helping me find right avenues. Most respect for you. Thanks

So, before I get started, please understand not everyone has the motivation to do this so don't feel discouraged. Everyone can do this, but many will fail due to the inability to understand what failure really means.
I've been out of college since 2016. I had a decent temp. role that was indefinite with the possibility of going permeant which in basically means you're stuck at a temp for the next 5 years. So I left that job for yet, another temp role that was promising to go perm after 3 months.
Same story.
Then in my 3rd temporary role with the same promises and my patience as pretty much up. So I decided that I have a college degree, some experience in Marketing and a very strong knowledge of analytical as well as digital marketing knowledge. So I started my own consulting firm.
So here is the pros of having your own DBA consulting firm.
You're the boss, the professional, the one people are hiring to do a job they cannot. Due to time, limited capabilities, etc. they need you to do a job. So instead of working for someone else you now work for yourself in a sense.
You can set your own rates. Now I was making fantastic money working as a consultant because marketing is one of those necessities many people need but don't necessarily want.
You can hold onto this consulting firm EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE A FULL-TIME JOB!!!! Having this on yoru resume alone will get you interviews and people will take you seriously. By far more seriously than if you have worked for various other companies.
Now I say all this to say this. While I still run my own company, having my own consulting firm lets me bat away all these pesky temporary roles. Temp roles are PERMENANTLY TEMP! Very rarely do you see people getting hired out of a temp role. It happens but so many factors go into the position most companies will keep you there for as long as you wish to be there.
The other huge bonus, recruiters from the companies themselves will reach out to you. This is beyond what any recruiting agency will offer you because the company recruiter knows everything and if they say you got the job, there's no two ways about it, you got it. Since running my own company and updating my resume on all the job sites, I've only had to apply to a few so it shows some activity but overall so many recruiters from large companies such as BJ's have reached out to me. Regardless if I applied or not.
Then came my most recent job opportunity that found me. I have now been hired at a huge international engineering company that is known across the U.S. and over seas. They found me and the best part THEY WANT ME. The feeling of being wanted by a large company is overwhelming and exiting. By starting my own company as well as picking up these temp jobs gave me the job experience ammunition to pursue my dreams.
I say all this to tell you, never give up. When opportunities shoot you down, create them yourself. Starting your own company isn't easy because you have to go after the clients yourself BUT just having that on your resume. If you're not happy with the way your life is going, change it. Create your dream job and go after it. Eventually opportunity will find you. But if you give up....and stop trying....if you turn off the lights and go home then how is opportunity going to find you from the darkness?

If anyone at all owns a Pest Control Company in AZ and is willing to share advice i would greatly appreciate it. I’m looking to start my own business in AZ Middle of March 2018.

This takes 120% dedication. Self motivation is #1 on what you must possess! If ur not selfmotivated, then who's gonna do the work to make u money! Depending on what kind of business, will depend on what kind of contacts you MUST have, in your back pocket! Another thing, be prepared to work weekends, holidays, nights and everywhere in between, especially when your first starting ur new business. Now, depending on your trade you need to sit down and write it all down;
1.) Are you going to have help, employees,
2.)where will your business operate(home, office, mobile?)
3.) Get a business phone, don't use ur personal phone. The phone companies have great business lines that are affordable!
4.) A pet peeve of mine, KEEP EVERY RECEIPT FROM THIS POINT FORWARD! And I mean every one. No matter where its from or what u bought! Almost EVERYTHING CAN BE USED AS A WRITEOFF FOR TAX PURPOSES.. From going out to eat, the movies, (that falls under the entertainment catagory), home furniture, tools, clothes, (all expenses can be used to ur advantage!) You never know, so keep the receipts. The IRS will allow you to loose money for the first 3years your in business. They expect you too! The number of years may vary from state to state. So be sure to check with a tax pro! Again let me say, even older receipts keep! Because before a business can start, u must buy products. Weather its paper pencils, glue or even stamps! Yes its all considetered a right off. Faxing, copying, paying your bills! The more receipts you can compile and keep for your book keeper, ( even if unare him) the better off you will be!
Thanks for reading my post. All the luck to you on your new business!
God Bless You
