I spent many many years at Family Dollar . I started in 1999 . I stayed with Family Dollar for almost 19 years . I grew with the company from going from $1 prices to when they decided to get away from $1 prices and expand the merchandise choices and brought in name brands and raised the prices . I believed in the company . I had so many district managers over the years that believed in me and helped me grow into not only a store manager but also a District Training manager . They were always there for me when I needed assistance and I was always there for them if they needed assistance I absolutely loved sharing my knowledge with promoted and new associates and enjoyed watching them grow with the company . I enjoyed being a part of hiring fairs to search for the talent we needed to add to our company . Loved meeting new people and if they were hired I would take them under my wing to make sure they were trained properly. I took pride in my position . I didn’t feel like it was just a career or job . I poured my heart and soul into my career . We all have jobs we don’t agree 100% with everything but I never gave up and continued on with a positive attitude and believed in their ways which made Family Dollar successful . Working for Family Dollar made me take pride in everything I did . Everyone I worked with became Family over the years . I was proud to work for Family Dollar . There wasn’t anything I didn’t enjoy about the job . What made it all worth it was to hear customers and corporate say how beautiful my store was and to keep up the great job . They showed appreciation and I knew I was appreciated.

I wish my job @#FamilyDollar offered me more hours and paid sick leave. But my manager get angry even when I bring in a work excuse from a Dr.

A better store manager because the one who is there now is more worried about messing around with a married woman he hired and she constantly quits and comes back which throws the schedule off and he doesn't protect his other employees when they get threatened just for being polite but he protects the employee he's been flirting with and I believe as a manager she shouldn't be able to quit and come back on multiple occasions when she has left when she was on the clock when someone has only just started working there and on top of that he hires people that don't know what to do as a cashier so I personally wish there was a better store manager than him that won't constantly just sit in the office majority of the time with the female manager he's been messing around with. I put in my two weeks notice and was done. He will not protect his employees and I felt unsafe

I loved my job at Family dollar I made assistance manager in less then a month the issue I had was with management the didn't no how to treat there employees, I worked hard I was always there when the needed me even the day after I broke my foot I went in for my manager cause he was running late but he doesn't show I call him he informs me he's switching shifts with ok fine then when it's his shift to come in he's a no show no call again mind you this was on a broken foot I had to pull a double then he fires me for not getting a U-boat finished when I had non stop customers for 5 hours straight I went to my district manager and he and the training manager treated me like crazy

More help & better equipment but I'm happy all the same
