At first it was the benefits and the people that had seniority. They made it a great place to work then GM started with this two tier pay scale and the whole place went to hell. Not because of fellow employees but because of management. It became a read my mind type of place to work. If asked to go back im sure to turn them down because they don’t care about the people they only care about numbers and safety isn’t the number one priority that’s for sure.
Good wages and a safety mattered first
I wanted to have a good job, with benefits, and decent pay, and GM fulfilled all that. They also had a variety of different jobs, which I learned quite a few over the 30 years I was there.
I was in charge of the vendor programs for all of the dealerships in the U. S. A., Argentina, Canada and Mexico. I set up the Onstar pgm, Monte Carlo thunder tour etc, . I Set up Hummer, and Isuzu to be billed through GM. My Favorite part was holding vendors meetings and being able to view and approve all of the promotions and their merchandise before its offered to the public. I was working on The General Motors Project Space. I wish it would have lasted for ever. I was the youngest employee at that time. I would work for GM again . Yours Truly, Corrine Marie Cavazos
That thur each year or thur economy that General Motors or any AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES! THAT WE STAND TOGETHER. WE WORK HARD. THAT WE WILL BE HERE. AS LONG AMERICAN NEEDS RIDE!
Stress comes in all forms. Lack of materials, line down or recalls of sorts! Or, lack of manpower. Or fans not working! I, personal love that I had job. Was able to provide for myself!
