///ADDING VALUE IS KING!!!///
IN TODAY'S HIGHLY COMPETITIVE JOB MARKET OF TODAY. YOU ARE NOT ONLY COMPETING AGAINST OTHER INDIVIDUALS BUT YOU ARE NOW COMPETING AGAINST THE WORLD AT LARGE. I BELIEVE SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED HERE IN AMERICA WITH ITS AND AMONG IT'S OWN PEOPLE. THAT IS THIS "WE HAVE LOST OUR COMPETITIVE EDGE!" IT IS SEEMINGLY TODAY THAT WE SEEM TO EXPECT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING OR JUST BECAUSE I HAVE DONE SOMETHING I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT AGAIN. BUT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT LIFE IS ABOUT EVOLVING FROM ONE THING TO THE OTHER. OUR SOCIETY AND CULTURE WAS NOT MADE FROM PEOPLE WHO WANTED SOMETHING GIVEN TO THEM BUT THEY WERE PEOPLE WHO INVENTED, CREATED THINGS, MADE STUFF OUT OF NOTHING. WHERE HAS THAT CREATIVE COMPETITOR'S EDGE GONE TOO. I TELL YOU WHERE IT HAS BEEN BEATEN THE CRAPPED OUT OF MOST OF US TODAY. THE REASON WHY MOST OTHER CULTURES AND ETHNIC GROUPS ARE OUT PERFORMING MOST OF OUR AMERICA CULTURAL SOCIETY IS BECAUSE OF THEIR COMPETITIVE EDGE AND THEIR GO GETTER ATTITUDE. WE HAVE LOST THAT THESE DAYS! WELL, YOU MIGHT BE ASKING YOURSELF STEPHEN HOW DO WE GET IT BACK? WELL, IT IS BY ADDING TREMENDOUS VALUE TO THE MARKETPLACE OF TODAY. TRUE VALUE IS THE NEW CURRENCY OF THE NEW EMERGING MARKETPLACE OF TODAY. WHEREVER TREMENDOUS VALUE IS ADDED TO ANYONE OR ANYTHING THAT IS THE PERSON(S) THAT WILL BE AHEAD IN THIS NEW GLOBALIZED EMERGING MARKETPLACE OF TODAY. NOT WHINNERS, COMPLAINERS, AND FOLKS WHO WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. BUT FOR THOSE DOERS AND GO GETTERS THAT KNOW ULTIMATELY IT IS WHAT YOU ADD TO THE MARKETPLACE THAT WILL TRULY MATTER IN THE END. SO, IF I WERE YOU IF YOU SO HAPPEN TO READ THIS SMALL ARTICLE OR READ. ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION! AM I OR AM I NOT ADDING VALUE TO WHATEVER IT IS THAT I AM DOING AND NOT DOING WITHIN THE MARKETPLACE OF TODAY? THIS IS THE TRILLION DOLLAR QUESTION THAT MUST BE ASKED GOING FORWARD!

It seems like every job posting out there today, for even the lowliest of entry level positions, comes with a laundry list of requirements, where one or two rightly exclude your from applying.
Whether it is a required number of years of experience or a college degree, chances are you have looked at a job posting and opted to simply close it out in frustration because you don't meet the long list of qualifications.
Don't shoot yourself in the foot. If you come across a job that you feel you will be perfect for, apply for it, even if you don't meet every requirement listed.
The truth is, most of the requirements are simply desires of the hiring manager and not a must to be considered for employment. Obviously, there will be some jobs, even entry level that require experience or degrees, such as in the medical field, counselling services, accounting, etc...however; jobs in customer service, sales, and other true entry level positions have extensive training programs and will train the right candidates for the job.
So, why do so many jobs even have these unrealistic requirements for such entry-level positions? The simple answer is to prevent you from applying. If applicants read the desired qualifications and opt out of the application process, it is less resumes/applications that the hiring manager/HR/recruiter has to field.
Ideally, if after reading a job description you feel that you can satisfy 80% of the desired skills/qualification, go ahead and apply for that job! You will never get an interview for positions to which you never apply, and that is seriously cutting your chances of finding employment drastically.
When I was unemployed, I was looking for jobs as a software implementation specialist or an IT Business Analyst. I came across a job posting for a position that matched my abilities, but they said that it required 5 years in the leasing and rents industry...of which I had zero. I shrugged and applied regardless of the fact that I lacked the desired experience.
I got an interview which led to a job. The experience in leasing and rents never came up in the process, and I sold them on my ability to do the job based on my experience in implementation and analysis.
The takeaway from all of this...if you feel like you can do the job and benefit the employer, then apply. Again, don't apply for positions for which you are wholly unqualified, but if you can tick off 80% of the requirements, don't necessarily allow experience and education requirements dissuade you from applying for entry level positions.

The US unemployment rate came in at 3.7 percent in August 2019, unchanged from the previous two month's figures and in line with market expectations. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 19 thousand to 6.0 million while employment rose by 590 thousand to 157.9 million.
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.4 percent), adult women (3.3 percent), teenagers (12.6 percent), Whites (3.4 percent), Blacks (5.5 percent), Asians (2.8 percent), and Hispanics (4.2 percent) showed little or no change in August.
The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 1.2 million in August and accounted for 20.6 percent of the unemployed.
In August, the labor force participation rate edged up to 63.2 percent in August but has shown little change, on the net, thus far this year. The employment-population ratio, at 60.9 percent, also edged up over the month and is up by 0.6 percentage point over the year.
The number of persons employed part-time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) increased by 397,000 to 4.4 million in August; this increase follows a decline of similar magnitude in July. These individuals, who would have preferred full-time employment, were working part-time because their hours had been reduced or they were unable to find full-time jobs.
In August, 1.6 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force, little different from a year earlier. (Data are not seasonally adjusted.) These individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were available for work, and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. Among the marginally attached, there were 467,000 discouraged workers in August, about unchanged from a year earlier. (Data are not seasonally adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them. The remaining 1.1 million persons marginally attached to the labor force in August had not searched for work for reasons such as school attendance or family responsibilities.
