We read/hear this all the time! And we're also often are asked how to best prep for an interview. So I thought I would address these both together (from a “what questions to prep for” perspective) and share something with you that I recently came across when researching what the most common interview questions are. Here's what I found.. https://www.uchastings.edu/career-office/docs/26.InterviewQuestions.pdf Now keep in mind that a number of these are directed towards a specific role, but the majority of them are universal. I hope this helps in your ongoing quest of how to prep in order to be able to clearly answer the questions in your interviews this week!
Good luck out there!

I will try to condence this as much as possible. It is the first time I have spoken of this. 3 years ago I had the perfect job. I loved what I did, got along well with my coworkers, made good money. Icing on the cake, it was within walking distance from my home. After working there for about 6 months, my boss became sexually abusive. At first it was verbal. He said things to me that I could not repeat If I wanted to. Filthy, degrading, disgusting things that I had ever heard in my life (and I am 50!!) I told him on several occasions that he had crossed the line and asked him to stop. Everything was OK after that, for about a week. He resumed his harassment and was starting to become physical (leaning against me, whispering dirty stuff in my ear, trying to hold my hand. It was humiliating and unprovoked. For various reasons I decided to keep it to myself and avoid him as much as possible. Eventually, by internalizing my feelings, they started to effect my health. I missed a lot of work, and finally had to resign (after 3 years). I have applied for and have been offered a few jobs. I have been unemployed for 4 years. When a prospective employer calls to verify my employment, he lies for me and says I was there for a lot longer then I actually was. I'm sure he does that because, although I told no one why I left, I'm pretty sure he knows why. Trying to get a job after being out of work for 4 years, with not much of a reason as to why I left that job, is almost impossible. My current problem is that I am applying for a job that requires a polygraph. If I lie on my resume, I will probably fail the polygraph. I'm afraid telling the truth will definitely make me look "high maintenance " and I still won't get a job. So, that's it. What do I do?

I have been underemployed/unemployed for the past 18 months(14 months underemployed and 4 months unemployed) I have had 5 interviews over the past 4 months but no offers. I have been working part time jobs and temp assignments just to make ends meet. I was with my last employer for 5 years and I held multiple positions there. I was terminated for falsifying records because I accidentally filled out my time sheet incorrectly but I din't lie about it, I told my manager who didn't see eye-to-eye with me that it was a simple mistake and I would go back in and fix it, which I did. However my manger didn't see it like that and reported me to HR and I ended up getting terminated. In my previous role with the same company I was an exempt employee which means we didn't have to fill out time sheets and when I started the new role I was still exempt but mid-way through the year they changed my team to non-exempt employees so we had to fill out time cards. I never received any written warnings regarding time sheets, this manger simply didn't want me on the team, despite getting great reviews for my work, so he/she took great measures to get me out. I starting to wonder if my termination is the reason that I am not landing any of these jobs that I have interviewed for recently, it just doesn't add up to me I have the qualifications and experience. I have advocated for myself and have several other sources also advocating for me because I am in deep need of gainful employment. I have no felonies or criminal records BUT it sure feels like I do based off how long it's taking me to gain back gainful employment. Is there something I am missing? So frustrating and confusing.

If on the way to the interview you had to save 65 kittens from a burning building, don’t expect brownie points (lol). I was late to an interview a few months back and let’s just say I didn’t get the job. If you miss the train, bus, your Uber driver went grandmother speed, or you got stuck in traffic then you are in deep my friends. I am sorry to say, but interviewers are not looking for excuses and they want to be taken seriously. Do you blame them? I don’t.
Showing up late says to the job that you don’t actually give a damn about their time and that you have other more important things you were doing that day before the interview happened. So another words do not be late! Life happens and sometimes we make mistakes, I know I have made plenty!
So here is my secret for making sure now that I am NEVER late for any major event. I leave MORE than enough time to arrive. I know simple right???? I leave myself over an hour of extra time to get there. Leaving myself enough time also let’s me unwind before I head into the interview. I usually park the car and take a few deep breaths. If you are more than 15 minutes early go grab a coffee, don’t head into the interview (they hate that, haha). I was 5 minutes late to that interview I mentioned and that job opportunity disappeared the moment I showed up. Don’t pull a me and be on time. LEAVE EARLY people!!
Any other ideas how to make sure to be on time?

I have interviewed for nearly 30 years, here are some helpful hints.
Don't ask about money, it will come up eventually. Tell the interviewer how you will arrive early, stay late, and work very hard to better the company. Tell them you are able to problem solve, that you are a team player. There's a start.

Hello everyone it's my first time trying to find a job. So I want to go into the restaurant and ask for a job application but don't know what to say. Also if I did get and interview I stress so much thinking about it. I test myself with an example of questions yet I still struggle. This cause me to not wanting to get a job. Mostly this is what stops me from getting a job cause I don't know what questions they're asking and how to respond to them myself. Please help.

So I had an interview two weeks ago and everything went extremely well. I was told by someone who didn't really know the timeline of when I would hear back that it would be 1-2 weeks, but again she wasn't sure and said to ask HR with any questions. I reached out to HR yesterday after two weeks for a follow up and was told my recruiter was on vacation, but would have some feedback for me by the beginning of next week. Getting a negative vibe from the word feedback, I checked to make sure the job was still down online (it was taken down after my phone interview and stayed down for weeks before my in person) and it was back up. Am I right to think I didn't get the job? #interview #jobsearch #followup

Wow...well as a manager I am constantly interviewing people as potential applicants and tenants. sometimes its frustrating to have people come in that you know are just wasting your time. I'm not saying you were but perhaps she had been experiencing this prior to your interview. I know for myself I get a feeling right away but being a professional I go thru the steps regardless, she should have too. Next time if you experience this again....you may want to say "I get the feeling you are having a bad day, perhaps this isn't a good time for you, I am willing to reschedule if that will help?" By doing this you may snap her/him out of whatever attitude or thoughts they maybe experiencing and you make yourself out to be a caring, thoughtful and compassionate person. But if they stay in same mood or thought mode, take that as a red flag and get out.

I have been actively searching for 2-months now and have gone on several interviews (some have even been 2nd interviews), but not a single offer has been made. They tell me I'm perfect and exactly what they're looking for but then I never hear from the employer again. Wish they wouldn't say that if they didn't mean it. And if they chose someone else, I wish they would just tell me instead of leaving me to wonder. I realize some people have been looking a lot longer than I have and I sympathize with them but am reaching the point where it's getting harder to believe in myself and that I'll find a job.

I had an interview on June 29, 2017. The interview went well, they told me that HR will contact me but they have a couple more interviews to conduct. It's now July 11, 2017 should I contact someone and ask if the position been filled or just be patience and wait?
