My experience and education is in electronics and electronics repair, yet the only jobs this site recommends for me are in home health care, a career I hated so much I joined the military to get away from because my other option was homelessness.

How do I filter the job searches to show ONLY jobs in my field?

I was told that I am still a candidate for a position I applied to. After two interviews I heard nothing, assuming that I did not get offer. They replied that they had sent an e-mail out to the final candidates stating that the position had to be rewritten. I am wondering why would they repost position? If the final candidates are not strong fits, why leave us in limbo while reposting for more candidates?

why do jobs post positions then when you don't hear back & call them they say they hired someone internal ... they knew they were going to do that when they posted the position

Back in the old days, it was recommended to get your resume in front of the hiring manager as much as possible, applying multiple times with a gap of time between if necessary, until your name is familiar enough they almost have to call you. Now I am being told by recruiters that if you "apply twice" for the same job, you are automatically disqualified for that position. Is there any truth to this?

The catch is, the various ads and recruiters are so good at camouflaging jobs (and most seem to leave out the job id number), that its easy to accidentally apply twice without even knowing it. Am I being eliminated for being persistent and thorough? Seems like an odd screening, but if its true, I need to be even more careful to screen "interest'.

Just wanted to know what the deal is with the huge amount of Safety Health, Environmental job openings in the Chicago, IL area? Has it always been that way and I just never notice, or is there another reason?

I was contacted by a Director of HR for a position in supply chain, which is my background. After speaking with me, he said that he would get back to me the next week and that there were perhaps other positions in the company which could be an opportunity for me. A week passed and I didn't hear from him. I sent him an email to find out the status of our conversation and then he told me that there were matches for my background. I was disappointed and dumbfounded. Then, two days later, I get a job alert from the same company telling me to apply for the following position because they match my background. and of course, some of the positions listed are the positions that was discussed with the HR Director. What is this? Why am I a match on paper and then after a couple of days, I'm not qualified. I have two master's degrees and several years of experience and am very articulate.
