What happened to the good old days when you could search a listing of jobs by entering information about the type of job you are looking for, and actually only get relevant jobs. I select accounting jobs and my results are mostly for Lyft Drivers and "Sandwich Artists"?

I have only been looking for a job for about 30 days as my job will be ending the end of next month and I am amazed at what these job sites on line do with your information. I filled out an on line application and clicked a box that said I would be open to additional education and I kid you not with in 15 minutes, some college was calling me. It was't part of the application, it was a solicitation by a college. Really, someone looking for a job wants a call from a college head hunter? I am not even sure how I got signed up here on jobcase. I have been sent lists of jobs to apply to that included Lyft drivers hundreds of miles away from where I live, are you serious? I am in the IT field, why would I want to be a cab driver, my car is full of switches and routers and I can't have some drunk kids barfing on those. (I realize not every drunk barfs and not everyone that orders a Lyft is drunk, but the potential is there).

I also got a solicitation from an insurance company to become an agent. What on my resume said I want to sell insurance. Being an insurance agent is a lucrative field, but I am too old to change careers.

There are also the emails for franchises, secret shoppers and the occasional link to a porn a do. Finding a new job is so hard now. I remember in the 90s (yep I had a job WAY back then lol) it did't take that long, you didn't risk getting a virus on your computer and no Nigerian Prince contacted you to help with his financial affairs. And I emailed that guy and he has still not gotten back to me.

So here is to all of us out there navigating thru the scams and the non starters. We deserve all the luck in the world in our endeavors.

Hello,

I really appreciate all of you sending me these job suggestions, but I currently have some issues. For starters, I have a double collarbone fracture, so a driving job might not be for me unless they provide the vehicle (I drive a stick - in my condition an auto would be best). Also, I do not have a Class A CDL - I have a regular Class C CA Driver's License, so I can't drive semis or anything like that. Right now an administrative office job would be preferable; the ideal job would be the latter but working from home. I am bilingual (Spanish). Thanks guys!

Max
