Sometimes things work in strange ways. Recently my company offered a buyout for similar positions to mine. During that process I decided to go ahead and apply for a couple positions in the event that they offered the buyout to my group. Unfortunately they did not offer the severance package to myself and my co-workers. In the end I have received an offer after a couple of interviews that is actually compensated better than I am now. Not only are the wages better, the medical plan appears to be better and at less cost per pay period. Vacation is almost exactly what I have now after 18 years with the company I work for now.
In conclusion I recommend that if you aren't satisfied with the job you are working now do not be afraid of applying. Stay positive in the interviews. There will always be opportunities for skilled individuals and you will never know what is available without trying. Also do not just look under the title that you are currently working, look at other titles and see what skills are necessary to complete the work.

Through out this month I have had a handful of interviews. One of then I did great which I was told by the panel that interviewed me but unfortunately they filled the position. (Which they told me by phone and I really appreciated it) so I went on another interview last week(for a different job) got called for a second interview which was on Monday. That same day the other company that I had previously interviewed with told me that they just had an opening that if I could go in for a second interview on Friday which is tomorrow. (Which mind you I really want the job that I have the interview with tomorrow) well yesterday I got a job offer from the other job. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Its so hard not being able to find a job. I went on an interview i thought i nailed it but it didnt work out for me. Im still looking but i was offered a job working in a convenient store in the kitchen its a 4am-9am shift its ok hours and i know most people would say good hours whats the issue but i would feel like im settling just bc its a job but thinking about my kids and they did get robbed a couple of weeks ago. Makes me think about my safety and yea someone may come in and npt do anything but than someone could come in and do something crazy im just so confused as to what i should do. I know i would leave as soon as i found something else bc its 20 hours a wk and i just cant live off 180 or less a wk but my daughter and her friend got me the job so i dont want to make them upset so that would be why im taking it partly what to do???

After three years of job-hunting and 1,601 applications, I have been offered two jobs. The first one is a permanent job that would require me to commute three hours per day, and pays $1 per hour more than the other. The second job is a six month temp-to-perm job with a far better commute--only about an hour and a half per day commute. This job will also offer overtime. I live in New England, so snowstorms can adversely affect commutes, and if my car goes into the shop for any reason, it would certainly be easier to get to the closer job.
I prefer the second job, primarily due to the commute, but also I get a better feeling about these people. But, it is temp-to-perm, so it seems a little risky. Considering that I am in dire straights after being unemployed for three years, the permanent job seems more stable. Then again, I will only make $8 per day more but will be driving for an hour and a half more each day, with wear and tear on the car.
I am having trouble making this decision. Please give me your opinions.

Should I consider leaving a full time direct hire that I started 45 days ago that I am not happy with as it isn't what I was lead to believe, over to a 6 month contract job and likelyhood will be extended or possible brought in as direct hire, as a Lead and that I'll be making $25K more than what I make now. I am fully capable of this new Lead job, as I was before last summer. Phone interview went very well today and now I'm scheduled for face to face interview at end of this week. So no final decision with them or myself, yet. What do you think?

I got a job offer for a Program Manager position at a company that does not have a Program in my city. It is a good offer that I would like to take, but I don’t see how this job could even exist. I don’t know what to do since I don’t want to relocate and you can’t be a Program Manager when there isn’t a Program where you are. Any advice would be great.

After spending the past several years as an Independent Contractor with no benefits, I have secured a position with a major communications company in the Phoenix Metro area!! As a matter of fact, I received 3 offers in one week!! Retail therapy will be necessary in a few weeks!!

Interviewed for a company back in August at that time all went well even no job was offered. Company called back 2 months later and said interested said person hired was not a good fit. On second interview received offer, only issue is salary range is way below industry level. Informed them that salary range is for position, they offered position at salary below industry standard makes me think if other person was fit or just took job to work.

After being laid off for six months, my best Christmas present is receiving a job offer and I will be starting my new job on January 2, 2018. I am so happy!!

I would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. I did land a job as an electrician helper for new residential homes being built. Wiring and doing a final trim. the work is great, but everyone as their days like any other job. Again, thanks to all of you.
