"Job Description Insight"

What does it mean when in the job descriptionit says "We're Looking for a Rockstar/Ninja"?

Well it usually means they don't have a firm grasp on what they are looking for.

When the job description uses words like “rockstar,” “ninja,” or “guru,” that’s less about your skills and more about their lack of direction. What does a ninja even do – sneak into meetings unnoticed?

This kind of language usually means unclear roles, impossible expectations, or a desperate attempt to seem “cool.” Spoiler: it’s not. Beware and be careful! #AWU #disability #jobs

"Interview Tip" Question!

Tell me about your previous employer or boss, what are some things they could do to improve?

Be careful! This question is tricky. It is asked to see if you are going to speak negatively about your previous employer. Most agree speaking negatively about a previous employer/boss is a red flag in an interview and can cost you the job.

I believe it is OK to be truthful, but how do you present it? An example might be, "My relationship with previous employer/boss was a professional one. At times, however, there were communication issues. Not just with me, but with my co-workers also. When that happened, I would simply revisit the task to make sure I understood what was expected of me." #disability #jobs #interviewtip #AWU

"Interview Tip" Thank you Note

Crafting Effective Thank You Emails After Job Interviews

• Sending a thank-you email after a job interview is crucial, as 80% of hiring managers consider it a factor in candidate selection.

• The email should be concise, personalized, and reiterate your interest in the position, mentioning specific details from the conversation.

• It's essential to tailor each email to the individual interviewer, avoiding generic messages, and sending it within 24 hours of the interview.

• Include a clear subject line, appropriate greeting, and a closing that matches the interview's formality, expressing gratitude and highlighting your qualifications.

• While an email is essential, a handwritten note can be a thoughtful addition to further enhance your impression. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips
