Hi, If you found this convo then you know @JobcaseTeam is working with UHG, Kohls and Whole Foods to help soften the landing for those that getting laid off by Lowes (story below). We are going to try and identify and help those directly impacted but we need your help too! Here's how you can help:

  1. if you know people directly impacted - refer them to this group on Jobcase: https://www.jobcase.com/groups/78782f7a-b601-4453-ae30-a3ed34b733e6 - (and yup, we know we have to get the naming conventions cleaned up - working on it...) 2)If you have advice or opportunities for those getting laid off - please share in this group!

Thanks - we are #StrongerTogether and this is one of many ways that Jobcasers can help one another.

Many, that others shared with me. The one that sticks out is the military veteran who said, he and his wife shopped at kohls for a long time, and said kohls was his neighborhood kohls. His fav was his wife joy to get promotions and discounts delivered to her inbox.

To attract workers:

Companies Like Target, JCPenny, Kohls, Target, UPS and Federal Express are hiring now!

Retailers, e-commerce and logistics companies are looking to hire over 700,000 holiday workers this year. They are sweetening the pot with cash bonuses and gift cards, as well as chances to win kayaks and diamond earrings.

Target: In addition to what it calls "competitive" wages starting at $12 an hour, Target is holding $500 gift card drawings for employees and will match up to $500 in donations for a local charity throughout the holiday season.

J.C. Penney is offering its holiday workers a 25 percent discount as well as the chance to win one of eight "reward packages" worth up to $5,000 each. Winners can choose from all-expense-paid vacations to Banff, Alberta; New York or Miami.

Kohls is offering its seasonal employees a 35 percent discount on certain days, but it's promoting it as a perk this year. Kohl's seasonal employees will also be eligible for gift card contests for perfect attendance.

Macy's offering new bonus program.

UPS: Seasonal jobs at UPS can pay $10.35 to $30 an hour, but its best perk for seasonal employees beyond pay is its track record for converting seasonal positions into year-round employment, UPS spokesman Glenn Zaccara told CNBC. About 35 percent of its seasonal workforce is converted to a permanent employee, he said. "In fact, 128,000 UPSers, nearly one-third of our U.S. workforce, started working for the company in a seasonal role — including our chairman and CEO, David Abney."

I’ve been at Kohl’s for a month now and I’m enjoying it, thus far. The money is good and so is the staff.

I left my job at BJS in March of this year because they were not flexible with my hours. I consistently worked 2 -10:30 pm which was taking a,roll on me physically.. So I gave my 2 weeks notice. Since then I have had several positions that did not work out for me. I am currently at Kohls and so far it is ok. I am 64 years old and have no savings to speak of. I thought at this age I would be doing much better.

I have applied at kohls walmart kroger stores, and all have given me interviews. Within minutes I get asked if I have any felonies. I am always upfront and honest with my past. Every time the interview is cut short with the phrase, "sorry but corporate won't allow us to hire felons." This is getting very aggravating. I am doing my best to turn my life around and no body will hire me.
