Working 33 years for the dept of human services for the state of Illinois was a blessing an a busy job daily, clients coming in each an every day, phone calls all day long meetings, training, it was from 8:30am until 5pm five days a week sometimes overtime on Saturdays, good co workers. Mgmt uggh! Not so nice I was a union steward 14 years an stood toe to toe on behalf of my co-workers, loved my job got promoted last 5 years of state service as a hearing officer, holding meetings with clients against the offices within Illinois, yeah I had to travel to certain counties to hear client complaints, then I'd have to write up an decide who was right or wrong whew I had a busy job, ha ha ha

Be willing to learn new ways of doing things you are already familiar with.

Genova is a bad place to work. I got fired even with a Dr excuse which is illegal, an they fire everyone in a few weeks. The supervisor lied an said I was going out for extra smoke breaks. I was never given proper tools to do my job. They kept making me operate 4 machines at once and there's supposed to be 2 people on 1 machine.

Oakridge is a great place to work. You will make friends fast and everyone is friendly. If you enjoy working with the elderly this job will be very rewarding. The residents look forward to seeing you everyday as you will be their family. There's a lot of love to share and go around. It leaves you feel special to these folks as sometimes their own families are not in the picture. One hug or one good morning means the world to them. Memories and good feelings that you made someone's day is your reward.

The problem isn't getting hired. They are always desperate for healthcare providers due to the increased turn over due to the environment, the workload, the unrealistic expectations of time management, lack of assistance when you are overwhelmed, and the poor morale and attitudes from most CNAs! Basically the LPNS run the facility: doing admissions, discharges, expected to administer medications to 30 residents with in an unrealistic time frame, writing orders and making rounds with doctors amidst providing Care, calling Doctors to result and abnormal values, keeping family happy and assured of sufficient care, making md appointments and schedule transportation, and then trying to squeeze your duties into 8hrs. The moral is poor and most CNAs have difficulties taking direction and without right out say they won't do it. Insubordination is a definite. The residents are AWESOME and the DON and along with other office professionals were easy to get along with, but after 16 years of experience I feel as tho it was the most challenging and frustrating environment I had ever worked. Anyone who wants to #landajob needs to have a very high tolerance for being under pressure and duties and have the up most patience and most of all keep to yourself!

A great place to work the work is hard but the owner is a fair man and treats his men well. The only reason I left is because I was injured and the owner treated me very well. If I was able I would have stayed and retired from there.

Good place nice people but be prepared to do high volume work whatever position your in
