I was constantly harassed by my manager due to the fact I have narcolepsy. I never missed a deadline and my work won awards. But any time I closed my eyes for a minute (after hours on a computer), he would yell at me "you can't sleep here!" Then he would claim many people walked by and saw me sleeping. I had an accident at work that damaged the vision in one eye, so I could only work 2-3 hours without resting my vision. I also had an EEOC form on file from my specialist informing them that I had narcolepsy, though I was taking Nuvigil (a horrible medicine that keeps me awake). I couldn't stand the daily bullying (I'd vomit before going to work) and retired, but now my mother is in assisted living (she is 96) and I need the money. I left in June 2018. Is there anyone with legal experience who can tell me if it is too late to bring a case against the manager and get my job back? There is a lot more to this story!

I've been retired for 15 years. Worked with attorneys for 30 years. I thought this would be a great opportunity to work with some nice people.

The prior job that I quit is still screwing me. I started this job and they talked me into signing a salaried job offer sheet, they said that there would be downtime and that a salary would even out the pay so you would be paid even when there was no work. Well it turned out that in the twelve weeks I worked there I had 10-20 hours more then 40 every week with one or two weekend days as well. The job also involved travel with a thirty dollar a day expense reimbursement as well as reimbursement of parts and tools need on the job. My total expense for this time period were $4,765.88 the total they paid me $5,795.38 (no pay stubs this information is from receipts and bank records). In addition they with held my last paycheck (supposedly until I returned the tools I was reimbursed for in reality I have never been paid but I do have the receipt from where I sent the tools back). According to FSLA installers do not qualify as a salaried position. The final straw for me was when they kept calling at 10-12 PM to tell me I had a flight at 6 AM (Sorry I have to sleep). Today I finally received the W-2 for this company and it is short, it should have been $7,788.42 plus the reimbursements but was $7118.91 of which I was never paid the last check which should have been $1,442.30 minus taxes plus reimbursement (which no reimbursement for the tools is fine I still have those tools because they hadn't reimbursed them yet) but the reimbursement for the travel expenses isn't.

I have talked to a lawyer and he said it wasn't enough money. I called the Labor Board for New Jersey and reported them for with holding a paycheck and improper classification as a salaried worker and have never heard back from them. What are my options? Suck it up buttercup? Just for what they legally owe me is more then $1000 dollars

I worked for a law firm for 24 years and out of the blue, I was terminated a word I had never heard before. My work performance was never questioned. When I asked why was I being terminated, I was told that he could not tell me!!!, but that I could either sign a letter of resignation and get a 4 week severance or not sign and get nothing. I was then told that I would need to leave the office with just my purse and that my belongings would be sent to me. I was treated as though I stole something and to this day I still have no clue as to what I did. He apparently indicated that he would not tell anyone, which because I have known this attorney for a number of years, trust me he has. I now feel as though, I am being blackballed when I apply for jobs.

I’m 62, recently divorced. I haven’t worked in 30 years but went back to school and now have a full time job but it doesn’t pay enough to cover my expenses. I’ve cut my expenses to the point there is nothing left to cut. My legal fees are enormous because of the divorce. I need to find a way to make more money but I can’t physically work 7 days a week. Need some ideas of how I can make another 300-400/month. Hard to find another job that will start at 5:30Pm and will hire someone my age.

I have a question and i need an answer! If you get hired on a job and they quote 12 dollars an hour to you and 10 dollars an hour for training. When you get out of training you only are getting paid 10.50 if you meet 37.50 hours you will get the 12 dollar rate but its not 12 dollars its an extra 150 dollars incentive added onto the 10.50 an hour for working the 37.5 hours. Then if you work holidays you dont get holiday pay they pay you the same 10.50 rate for double time. How is that legal for a call center in the state of Georgia? Somebody please help me understand this.....

About three weeks ago I filed a formal complaint to my HR due to the fact that my regional manager was being sexist towards myself for the last 3 to 4 months that I was there as a store manager she would contact the assistant manager instead of me and work side-by-side with him she also pulled me in the office for a two hour conversation basically stating that my assistant manager does not like working with me and was going to hand their keys in however when speaking to the assistant manager none of this is true my assistant manager has offered to testify to this as well in my claim I explained all of this to my HR and in their investigation it says that the assistant manager agreed with the regional manager when I showed him this report he said that he would go to a notary and do a written document stating that they falsified his answers on the report he also snapshoted A text message from my regional asking for a truck order that she denied in the report she said she actually called the work phone not his cell phone and that’s why she spoke to him because he supposedly picked up the phone at work however I have the text to prove otherwise I was forced to quit before they even sent me the investigations paperwork because they Were going to demote me to a cashier for nine dollars an hour and make me move to another store working totally different hours than when I was at and weekends every weekend and I told them I would give them a decision whether I accepted the job or not after their investigation was complete but they would not wait that long n told me it was a voluntary resignation I don’t know what to do I’m fighting for unemployment right now but I don’t feel it is fair that they did this to me when I haven’t done anything for them to be able to do it because they are in at will CompanyThey can do what they want how do I fight this and prove my case I do have a witness who is willing to testify and I have video footage of my boss as well what do I do please somebody help me

Would love to hear from Jobcasers across the country if they feel their employers are not following the rules?

One restaurant chain just paid out more than $2M for child labor violations in MA because 16 and 17 year olds were working past midnight or more than 48 hours in a week. The violations were caused in part by supervisors and young employees not being aware of the law. Below is a great site to check out for your local laws - https://www.youthrules.gov/law-library/state-laws/index.htm

Anyone have a story to share? Love to understand how frequently this happens?

Low pay, no respect, inexperienced superiors, and snobby management.
