Housekeeper at Fairfield Inn Suites Marriott

The behind the hotel action is not as exciting as people describe it. In all honesty it is good if you have reliable co-workers that come in when they are scheduled to come in. If you're co workers are unreliable you have to have more than your share of rooms to clean because they decided not to show up. Then when we are for example booked up all the rooms need cleaning they have to be cleaned. At my hotel we have unreliable workers, and bosses that let them get away with not showing up, or walking off the job, or individuals that throw fits if they have to many rooms to do, I have been working there for three years nearly, and it has never been as bad as it has been this year, No one wants to do their job, no one wants to even show up for interviews for said job so it is frustrating to me, and other co workers that do take their job seriously to deal with these unprofessional ,temper tantrum throwing co workers that choose to work only on the days they want to work , or bother showing up. As for the whole incoming guest don't expect any kindness ,or common courtesy from them and forget about being tipped. It is around Christmas No one has left any tips because These guest do not acknowledge you as a housekeeper, or a person. You are nothing to these guest just garbage. Currently looking to get out of the hotel business all together. Between the lazy co workers and the self absorbed guest just not worth it any more.

I really loved working for #Marriott International because...

I loved the family environment. Your colleagues you spent so much time with are your extended family. Marriott encouraged this with its many wellness and social activities. Making each employee fell connected, and apart of the companies success. In my particular capacity, I enjoyed ever learning. And feeling my contributions were appreciated.

Marriott is a great company with many opportunities in any position that you hold.

I started as a front desk agent and with a lot of hard work and dedication was able to transfer to Human Resources, Food & Beverage and later Executive Office where I worked for several GM's and AGM's who were wonderful. Great on the job training and opportunities with wonderful benefits and perks.
