Hello I currently have an associates degree in the medical coding field and was working on my bs degree in business health care administration up to 2014 when I had to take a break. I didn't finish my bs got almost 1/2 way through exited with a 4.0gpa I have never utilized my degree in an actual medical setting yet but graduated top of my class with my associates degree. I haven't gone to sit for the state tests to get credentials yet. I need to get to work and it seems like I can't find a coding job anywhere that will give me a chance w/o prior hands on experience in the medical field and because its been some time since I was in school that has passed now I feel like the education I got just keeps slipping father and farther away from actually helping me and I worked really hard in school how can I find a good employer that will give me a chance to prove what I can do and break into this field any suggestions?

I'm currently employed, but I need a coding job that's willing to pay as equal as the work that's given. I'm a dedicated and hard worker, plus I catch on very easily. I live in the Hampton Roads areas of Virginia.

Why can i not find a job doing what i went to school for?
