It gave me the opportunity to do what I like which I was monetary compensated which was a plus, I was able to provide a much needed service to the public. Food is always a good way to meet new people and service there need. Each day we filled food boxes to churches and other non profit organizations. I also set up seminars throughout the states to spread the word about our food program. Many times my job went beyond the food program as I was able to assist callers about other non profit groups.

Being a woman, I'm appalled that so many shops are NOT willing to hire a female for work in the shop!!! I have had several years hands on - body/paint work and Mechanics - with an old family friend who is more than qualified to aim for the moon in any Body/Mechanical shop.

He finally convinced me to complete both courses and chase what I truly love. I'm in the Jackson, MS area - and although I realize that I still have a lot to learn - I either don't get an interview at all or else the interview seems to end on an awkward note.

What can I do to help promote myself to the available market and finally get a chance to prove myself?

I actually managed to use my own vehicle to better understand what I couldn't in class and then turned the knowledge on my car to make several "big" repairs myself. I'm ready and more than willing to give the effort and time to doing it right the first time.

Are the guys just that intimidated by the thought of having a woman in the shop?

When i started with Belfflex we were new to the Jackson area. We were set up in a hotel room with our personal laptops and 4 recruiters sitting at one table. It was cramped, uncomfortable, hot and there were lines of people waiting to interview with us. I successfully interviewed and processed 300 possible employees in my first week. Within a month we were set up with a beautiful office and nice furniture, but i will always fondly remember that first week. It was the moment that i fell in love with Belflex Staffing.
