So while I was gone, ways to get out and find a job started going through my head. I am a maintenance hand looking for ways to get into the commercial air conditioning market. Remember that big ol X I mentioned earlier? Down here in Texas they make it a pain to get a job with that X. But only, I think, if you're using the damn job websites. Why do I think this? Besides all of the rerouting to other sites, and the inability to present myself as a human being determined to move on with my life, it's because felons are just frowned upon. Somewhat understandable. And (I could be wrong about this), with all of the "illegal immigrants" who are trying to do the same thing I, you, we are all trying to do - take care of ourselves and our families - their labor comes cheaper. And seldom does a company want to be known as "that" company that has a felon working for them. What would their friends think?!?!?! But I digress. Tuesday, the day after the solar eclipse, I'm going out to a few sites where there is work going on and pimping (yes, I said it), and hoping there is somebody willing to give me a chance. What does that have to do with you? Only this: Going out there, in the cruel outdoors for those of us who need to work, will eventually beat out sitting in front of a screen going around and around with nothing to show for the effort but sore eyes heartache and the nagging feeling that nothing was accomplished. Sometimes we have to go for the work we don't want in order to get to the job/career we ultimately desire. I don't want to be unemployed, but I am. Right now. So I'm willing to dig trenches, suffer the inhumanity of bat insulation even, and do whatever else I need to do (legally folks) to get where I want to be. And at the top of that list is out of my parents house! Yeah, I said that. But it's the plain and simple truth. If you're a construction person, go visit the actual sites. If you're a assembly person, uh, the post office? Hey, you have to organize stuff! Hit up the furniture stores, retail, whatever. Remember, it's a start to where you want to go. And go back to school. That's another element for me to achieve my goal. Make it yours too. Don't be afraid to work hard. Anyway, I'm done boring you. But I'll tell you what, now I get why so many people post their gripes on this site and others like it where it's possible to do so: it's because we're all just plain frustrated. Between the constant no and no, fear of being hacked by those too lazy to go out and get a job, so they steal our information and rack up near insurmountable debt WE have to deal with, we've got to have way to vent. And it's okay to vent. Just don't get caught up in it. Later y'all.

Respectfully,

Edward

I sought free legal aide and was advised to remove my profile from Monster, care.com etc...people are combing these sites looking for people like us who have been looking for a job for a while. I finally was able to get my bank to forgive the $23k, after the took $7k from me! The FBI cannot keep up with the amount of fraud cases reported daily. If it sounds too good to be true, it is probably not. I now only apply at companies that are local and I know are the REAL deal. I completely understand your frustration and wish you good luck going forward.
