Here’s an odd time line. I applied for a quality assurance job on May 11th. Got a call back a couple of weeks later and scheduled an interview for Monday June 13. Then I received an email this afternoon informing me the position had been filled. I don’t understand the logic… Why would they schedule me for an interview then offer the job to someone else?

I am an experienced manual software testing/qa looking for my next opportunity. The problem I am having is finding employment that doesn't require automation skills. I have worked over the last 15 years within various industries but finding it very difficult to get a position in quality assurance or transition in another career. I am currently taking an online Medical Coding and Billing course but won't be finished until Fall 2016. I am ready to get back to work.

The plant where I worked cut back 50% of its workforce and laid me off this month. Two months earlier I got a verbal warning for being late a couple of days and a written warning for a quality control error I made at the end of a 60 hour work week from mandatory overtime. They told me not to worry because I didn’t have enough corrective action incidents to affect my unemployment benefits. Today I received a rejection letter from unemployment and called the plant manager for an explanation. He told me that was a state unemployment decision and had nothing to do with the company. I called the unemployment office and they referred me back to the company. Rent is due next week and these people are playing games with my money. Who can I turn to for help?

My assignment has ended as a Quality Assurance Audit Inspector although it was to be permanent. I have applied for dozens of construction Inspector, Non Destructive Testing Technician, Quality Assurance Inspector etc... But I have not gotten a response from anyone with 1 exception stating that I was not considered. I have never had a problem getting work, but now that I am in Los Angeles, I cannot get a second look.

I am a seasoned QA analyst looking for my next project to lead and support. Prefer long term assignments that have the possibility to lead to a more permanent position.
