I had an interview at Ace Hardware yesterday. I thought it went well, saw one or two older people as employees, aced meeting the bosses etc... later that night I got the call of doom " I'm sorry, we're going to go in a different direction and find some other candidates to fill the position " What other direction?? They even told me about the high employee turnover they experience there during the interview, why not hire me? I have great work experience and wasn't expecting a huge hourly wage.. I'm seriously feeling age discriminated against alot lately. Plus it doesn't help that I'm near Denver " the young pretty people" city.. so discouraged lately

I'm tired of interviewing for jobs and then getting rejected because the job is offered to a.candidate internally. Why would you waste my time with an interview if you are going to give the job to someone else already? They already have a job, I don't so now I need to keep looking. I'm so aggravated right now I could cry.

Hello everyone, so I out a application in to become a cleaner for a well known company then I was contacted to come in to take a test, I passed the test and had two back to back interviews. So this is the sucky part, I was informed that they had to do a background check and a seven year employment verification and it would take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for them to be completed...one day shy from it being 4 weeks and they sent me a email saying they decided to go with someone more suitable for the position. I know sometimes that happens but why wait so long to say basically they didn't want me. I'm lost and don't know where to start to apply next. Somebody please help me...

The email said "I didn't see anywhere your salary range would you please provide it" Mind you, the salary was never disclosed to me prior and you're advised by the experts not to ask in your interview and besides it was the job itself that interested me the most. I did my research to determine how much a person in that field would make. So to answer the question, I shared what I made on my last job (which is less than the said amount my research stated one would make in that position) and my exact words were "I would like to make as close to $$$ if possible but it is negotiable" Didn't get a reply after that so I thought they would forward to whomever I will be doing the second interview with and they would contact me to schedule a day and time as I was previously told. I waited two days and had not heard anything so I reached out to the person who conducted my first interview to say I had not received the call yet for the second interview. That's when I was basically told that the job doesn't pay as much as I stated (it was a 6,000 difference) so they are not moving forward!!!! What upset me about this is 1, when was someone going to tell me and 2, I thought I said all the keywords(as close if possible, negotiable) to show them that I was open to negotiating. I feel this was unfair and I understand so is life but this bothered me more than not getting the job.

I am over these assessments test that employers send you just to send you an email stated "Sorry but we feel we are not a match or good fit". I havent even taken some of there test and still get a letter. They are bs test just to see if you can read or add and its the same test over and over. These test dont do justice on some one work ethics loyalty honesty. Or integrity. Its a waste of time for the employer and person applying. Too lazy to talk to someone in person. Or how about the famous phone interview 15 questions to get a letter saying " SORRY BUT..." OR meet for an interview and then the famous we will call you and never hear from them again. What ever happen to common curiosity of meeting someone face to face or work a week to see how you fit. Or what ever it is. Too much HR with computers going through there system and throwing out the bad apps. And you are the maybes so here is your test. Please just more bs...

I understand majority of the world works week to week or saves just enough to live on for a few months but life happens and so do unforeseen circumstances that we all need to understand as employees or employers. But nobody seems to care about the little man or women that is workings its ass off to make it through life. But this little man or woman sure the hell dont need an assessment test to prove how to work. Or even prove to these employees or employers how smart they are. Or is it another way of discriminating againist the ones who want to work and are ready to work, the ones who need a job and are willing to put there heart and soul into it. Those ones that are humble happy love who they are. They are the ones with experience and confidence. Does that scare the employer?? Dont worry employers they are not after your job, they just want to work. They want to work to be able to put food on the table or roof over their heads or new stuff for the kids. They want to work, work that assessment test cant show you.

I have had the privilege of seeing the correct way of answering the question on the assessment test. I have answered then correctly and I answered them wrong. And got the same letters "Sorry but....." so yes i believe its BS...

This is mostly for the employer who read these sites assessment test does not prove a person integrity or future employee worth their ethics or loyalty or honesty to your company. Get rid the test and interview like you are suppose too face to face with dignity and respect that these fellow job hunters deserve. What happen to interview everyone because that one you missed might be someone else STAR.. what happened???

We all deserve better then assessment test.. We deserve a chance......

I am a new graduate in psychology. I had many interview but am getting rejected at ever turn. I'm being to lose my confidence I ever finding a job soon. I evaluate my interview and I'm confused on what I'm doing wrong. When I get done with each interview I feel confident until I get the notice, the chose someone else for the job. I'm so lost and I dont know how to fix this. Am I doing something wrong? Am underqualified? Overqualified? I dont what to look my confidence. I just want someone to open the doors and I want to find a job that uses all my abilites and have a job I love. Where do I find my confidence? I dont want to give up but I feel so close. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was asked to report to an interview site recently near an airport with high security. I arrived in a suit and they wanted a passport for an ID. I didn't have one just my license. The guard got frustrated and made the gal that had the appt w me come and get me. He gave me a badge to wear 'at all times' which I placed on my lapel, and in the meantime the gal skirted through the security stiles just ahead of me. She seemed to be waiting for me and I didn't see anything barring my way in the stiles so I proceeded through them as normal. Wham!!!! These thick clear plastic flaps came slamming down on my legs and it hurt! Oh man did that hurt. And neither person said anything to me. I ripped off my badge and obv swiped the security stile to open them again and I proceeded through, ego hurt as well as legs. I'm such an idiot, I felt. The next day I had forgotten until I showered and there was literally a giant hematoma on my left thigh and bruising on my right. They emailed the next day to say thenks but no thanks. I think they were scared! Be careful out there hazards are everywhere! TG I had another offer waiting for me from someone else.

I was set up for an interview, oddly with a past employer who I left in good terms, within 24 hrs I got a message saying they went with another candidate and if anything else came up they would contact me, do they not communicate and know this before they give someone a date and time for an interview?

I reached out to the hiring manager to inquire about position just to be told I got passed over by another person. How do you handle the rejection, again?

Am I wasting my time? I have applied for over a thousand jobs the past eleven years and have been denied at nearly every turn. I have a masters degree and have completed work in two other masters programs. I am fifty-seven years old. I am a Minister of a small church and therefore am unavailable Sundays and Wednesday evenings. I have always held at least two positions all my twenty-one years as a minister. I have been highly productive at every position I have held, unfortunately they have been either part time or per tenuous contract.
