I can understand you frustration. I recently moved down from Alaska to Dallas. If relocation allowance isn't posted in th lot of businesses are reluctant to pay relocation fees. I was lucky that I didn't have a family to move and it was much easier on me. I would say that you should still try to obtain the job you are looking for before you make the move though. As stressful as it is, relocating to a new area should be a family affair.especially if you have kids. I feel it's better to fly in to do an interview and if you find a job that you like it will give you the opportunity to search out where you want to live before packing everything up in the place you live now. It also gives you the opportunity to go through the things you really value and need before you move to cut down shipping costs. If you are serious about the move start packing up the items now and only keep out the things you need and for day to day living. Hope this helps and wish you much success

Regards, Craig

I just moved to a new area and I’m having a hard time finding work because I have a few blemishes on my background check. No felonies just a few misdemeanors. I moved to a new state to start a new chapter in my life and to have a clean slate but my past has followed me here sad to say. I don’t know how long I can keep going like this.

My daughter has moved back from Maryland to Norfolk Virginia and has not been able to find a job. She has been filling out applications online and has maybe gotten two interviews. I am old school and want to know what happened to the days with paper applications and speaking to someone. I just don't understand what this world is coming to.

Think I will be forced into retirement and finding some part time or contract work. I am an accountant by degree. Any idea on a placement service that works with older candidates in the Oklahoma City metro?

I had a job interview on 1/7 with the Guilford County DSS for a supervisor position. I researched the company, practice being on the interview, dressed professionally for the interview, so what did I do wrong. I have been living in NC for 8 months and still unemployed. I called HR back and asked for any feedback. I was told there were others within other county agencies with more experience that I had. In other words, they promoted within. Why waste the public time if you know you’re going to hire within? I am frustrated and not use to this. I think I made a mistake of retiring early from my job and relocated to NC to be closer to family.
