Last year I was laid off at 64 1/2 from my job after almost 8 years as a scientist at a medical device company when a larger company acquired us and moved the operation to the other side of the country after we trained their personnel to do our jobs. I've applied for hundreds of jobs over the past 9 months with no luck. I got just 6 interviews (4 of them in the first 3 months) and no offers. Should I just throw in the towel on my career and gracefully accept retirement at 65+ years old?

I would choose a 401K. We have a mixture of different generations that work at CLA. Some of us are old enough to be thinking about the future and how we have prepared ourselves for retirement. I love working for CLA. The atmosphere is totally different than other daycares, if you can call it a daycare. The pay is better as well. Vickie Edington

Daniel hi sorry to hear that.I have felt that way too.I've been at my job for 20years.And they are forcing me out .It's take. A medical retirement.Or lose my Pention and 401 .So you know what .I did .Of. Course .But I'm still healthy..So I'm looking for another job Take Care of your self .Don't let it get you SICK

I RETIRED WITH OVER 33 YEARS AND NOT EVEN A SINGLE THANK YOU OTHERS THAT RETIRED BEFORE AND AFTER I DID ALL GOT RETIREMENT WATCHES BUT NOT ME .I GUESS THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR MY TIME AWAY FROM FAMILY FOR OVER THE YEARS .ONLY ONE CHRISTMAS OFF IN 30 PLUS YEARS .THEY TELL IT'S BECAUSE OF BUDGET CUTS. WELL IF THEY TO CUT BUDGET IT SHOULD BE IN MANAGEMENT BONUSES NOT THE ONES THAT SACRIFICE TIME AWAY FROM home THE COMPANY spent thousands ON a study about the morrell of workers and were told THEY had problems and the union Pacific DID noting TO improve the problem ONLY to give MANAGEMENT millions in BONUSES.only to treat there employees like shit

Two days ago I sent follow ups on several jobs I interviewed for as well as employment agencies I signed up for. I still have not heard anything back. If you read my previous comment, you would know I was frustrated with my previous job for not providing the information necessary for me to move forward with a new job. Now I'm wondering if that has anything to do with me not getting any replies back from the follows i submitted. I know I said I would put it in God's hands but God also wants you to do your part. I still have to pursue employment and complete the proper steps that comes with pursuing employment. I still have faith I will find my dream job and make that my career because my goal is to have a career. I want to retire from the next company I am employed at.

I am eligible for retirement at my job and I really want to move on to something else. My retirement is a 401k fidelity plan so once I quit I can pull it all out anyway or roll it over. I am wondering what would be the proz and cons of retiring oppose to just giving a 2/3 weeks notice and quitting?

Will be retiring soon after 35 years in U.S. Military and Federal Government. Specialty is Data Entry and Office Automation (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Appreciate any leads, and main interest is part-time during the week. Thanks.

I am 68 year old retired college teacher! I need a job to supplement my Social Security and small teachers retirement income. I live 50 miles from the nearest small city. I have tried Home Health Care and would like to have a couple private clients so I can work for myself and not an agency! Any ideas about how to find these clients? This is a rural, and relatively poor area in SW Missouri. Thanks for any tips you can give me!

I worked for the government for 34 years, I should have been promoted several times during those years did not happen. I was a minority where I worked however, my work was impeccable. We have a rating based from 1 to 5, 5 being the absolute best. I received a 5 for over 10 years of my last year with the IRS. The last 3 years were absolutely worst. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease and stress only makes the symptoms worse. I filed an EEOC and it was investigated, I was told I would be given a hearing but that has not happened as of yet. I could not stand the way I was being treated so I went ahead and retired, although I was not ready to. My house went into foreclosure bills were piling up and I just though I was going to go insane. I worked out a modification with the mortgage company but that is a joke because they actually raised my payment and did nothing to lower the principle. I've lost money trying to find a legitimate online job. I know others have it a lot worse than I but I'm just trying to keep my head above water. Advise would be greatly appreciated.
