Love my job and the guys there. But the tiles on the floors were broken into pieces so someone pulled up all the broken tiles and left open areas causing the workers to trip slip and fall too. I got fired for filing an incident report and having surgery. But the tiles are still missing in several areas. There are area rugs over the open areas. One co- worker fell and knocked herself out for a moment. And another had eye surgery

So the NLRB has filed a wrongful termination suit against my former employer. My former employer has agreed to settle for my back pay... so long as I drop the claims that I have filed with OSHA and the Industrial Commission AND that they do not need to rehire me back. OSHA notified my employer about my complaint and I was fired. The Industrial Commission was brought in for unpaid work time in the amount of 4-7hrs per week. Although there were employees missing 8-10hrs per week. Should I ask for more money to stop pursuing my other filings?

I was recently fired for safety violations. I am a construction equipment mechanic and I accidentally swung an excavator bucket into a tool box costing the company 8 thousand in damages. It was documented but I was able to stay. My second incident I was towing a light tower and did not attach the hitch properly and the light tower came loose and rolled a few feet but did not cause any damage. I was written up for safety violation and warning that another incident could cause termination if serious enough. Well, my third incident was getting fuel in my eyes while servicing an engine, causing me to use the eye wash station. They did not document it and I did not sign anything but was terminated for too many safety violations. Did they have legal grounds to do so? Any advice would be great!

Last month my truck broke down so I was given another truck that wasn't built for this particular plant. I had to jump off a wall then climbe back up .After 3 days I had a split behind my big toe. After 2 weeks,on a Saturday my wife had me to go to the Dr.When he brought up a drug screen Idecided not to proceed so not to tarnish our safety record,so I walked out.I realized I had to go back but the door was locked. Now every time I apply the persons interviewing me calls the last HR only to say we cann't hire you.I went to the DOTand they said just pass the next test.I'm clean but can't get a chance.

I have worked from entry level to general manager for the same company for 17+ years and have recently decided to part ways (my choice). Being involved in a couple of robberies were the final tipping point. I tried requesting a transfer for more than a year to another location even if it meant excepting less money but finding a replacement for me just was not happening and none of the other managers in other states wanted to relocate to KC. Luckily I got out when I did because the place was robbed at gunpoint just 3 weeks after resigning. I can't begin to explain how frustrating it is to worry about your personal safety, completing your job duties and dealing with the stresses of your families concerns and inability to balance work/home life. Yes. I am aware that I should have been seeking new employment while still employed but honestly the extra time to do so just was not there.

I have sent out 600+ resumes and filled out countless amounts of applications. The results have not been so great, being that I have only had 5 interviews in 5 months. I'm guessing experience, progress and loyalty these days really don't matter much when looking for employees.

Not sure exactly what I'm doing wrong here. Whatever it is it needs to happen soon or we'll be out on the streets!
