I started as a temp worker in 2016 and got hired on full time with the company that I was placed at in November 2017 I filled out the paperwork for insurance turned it in and when I never received my health insurance cards I asked my blue hat about it and he told me to ask the HR office about it I was told that they were waiting for me to turn it in I the female in charge that I gave it to that female so she went and asked her about my paperwork then comes back and tells me that I didn't give her any paperwork. So asked now what she tells me that I have to wait till next year to reapply for insurance. So filed taxes for 2018 and was told good news and bad news bad news I'm getting fined $675 for no health insurance. I called the labor division and told them what happened and I was told to talk to the IRS about it so I attempted to but couldn't get a hold of a human being since now a days you have to listen to an automated message. Any suggestions on what to do or who to talk to??

I’m in give up mode. I’m a CPA with decades of experience.. primarily in tax and with large and small business and individual clients. I’ve been working for peanuts for the past few years as my full-time job morphed into a sometime job. I’ve been working for a staffing company as a waiter or bartender to get by, but the money is minuscule. I’m pretty sure it’s my age, but I can’t even get an interview. Working on my QuickBooks Pro Desktop certification.. already certified as a QBO PRO advisor. Probably won’t help. So much for 3% unemployment. I seem to be perpetually unemployable, despite my certification, experience and skills. Getting jaded.

Hello! So I have been having issues with being paid correctly and I have called the payroll department at the company I worked for and asked if they could send me a copy of my paystubs from 7 months until now. They said they didn’t have access to that because they switched payroll companies and no longer has access to my old paystubs from before March of this year! Is that illegal for them to not have my pay records available?

Well, in the Spirit of a smattering of other posts . . . I TOO 'got a job' . . . after 35 years as a graphic designer, and a HARD fought, HARD opportunity chased career, finally reaching an echelon of 'Sr.' Graphic Designer, based on acumen, skill set and experience . . . and, after my last job ended with a company sale and dismantling in 2016, and nearly $3K spent in fees and postage sending out portfolio packs, and just under 350 applications sent, over 35% of which were for ANY job, from garbage man to mass market retailer stocker to janitorial to . . . whatever 'might' even consider me . . . I 'start' a job on Monday, tomorrow, at a major retailer . . . at 22 hours a week, $8 an hour, . . . . 'after taxes', roughly $160 a week . . . (as I told my stepdaughter, in 1979, I worked at a little country grocery store, 17 years of age, Jr. in HS, evenings and half Saturday, . . . and made THEN $180 a week) . . . .and even with this 'opportunity', the vehicle I have is gonna 'drink' about 45% of THAT per week, to get TO it to make . . . . and STILL, the woman I came here to RESCUE, she and her daughter, 3 years ago, assuring her I'd 'surely find professional employment' HERE, as much as the area has grown, etc. . . . is going to STILL have to apply for EBT the first of the month . . . I've NEVER been on state subsistence in my life, of ANY kind, and now, I've a family, and THIS is what I could come up with . . . so 'Yeah!' . . . '19 is shaping up yeah?!

I have worked for a small electrical company full time for over a year now. I'm definitely an "employee" - yet I'm paid as an independent contractor (1099). The boss just writes me a check each week. I've expressed in the past that I'd prefer to have deductions taken out, etc. I'm now preparing to file my taxes. I read that I will owe double in taxes if I file as an independent contractor vs. an employee (paying both my share AND employer's share of social security, medicare, etc). However - I'm definitely an "employee" - the boss runs, controls, and directs "everything" - every little detail of my job - and my hours. Any advice for filing my taxes? Can I still just file as an "employee" with the IRS/Dept of Revenue - and let them sort it out?...

It's been six months since I worked in my field and I had applied everywhere for a job as an engineer . I went through 10 telephone interviews.. 5 on site interviews with all expenses covered .. got a job with Department of Energy .. offer rescended ..I could not get the documentation from the IRS that I had just filed my 2015 taxes because the government was shut down. I never gave up and I kept praying . At times I wanted to and I felt so defeated. I kept praying .. and at times my self esteem took a beating . Yes prayer changes things . The almighty God finally answered .Finally I got five job offers and I then chose one . I start on 4/15 with relocation assistance and the background check is completed .Please don't give up even if you feel like it . I may not be with that gov job that I wanted but God gave me a good job thirty minutes from my son in another state . He may not come through on your time table but He sure will. Don't give up and you just need one yes ! Tell your self positive things because a no does not define whom you are !!
