I absolutely loved my job I couldn’t have been happier. I loved going to work so much I never said no to anything they asked of me. I worked 12hr days sometimes and 6 days a week. I would be relaxing on my day off get called and asked to come in and guess what I would jump right to it. I had the title bartender but for the majority of my 9months of working for the company I was also the waitress, food runner, bartender, buster, cashier, barista and cleaned the whole place once closed by myself. The regulars made it all worth it. I was asked by one of the regulars if the owner was closing so I asked of course the owner said no I asked my GM and same response next thing I know I work Sunday evening June 10 everything seemed completely normal. I went home and was looking forward to my day off the following day Monday. I received a call from my gm that Monday saying that the evening before was the last work day that it was closed the owner sold it. To make it worse it’s been over a month and still haven’t received my final paycheck and I keep asking. I also never received my W2 from last year but just filled an extension to not cause any problems for the owner. I worked the hardest I ever had and know the great reference would be very helpful. Yet I don’t feel I should allow them to walk all over me and take my kindness for weakness so I’m not sure if I should let it go or go to the labor board. Some advice please.

I was told that I was being brought on board with a company. I traveled at my own expense to the company training facility however, the company put me up at their corporate condo for free and fed me, also at no charge. After trying for a week,I was determined by both the company and me that I wasn’t a good fit. We parted on good terms. My question: can I deduct the mileage at the Federal mileage rate from my taxes even though I never received any compensation via pay or expenses?

Hiring managers asking what I made or "what was my W-2 like the previous year" caught me a little off guard. The last time I went through interviews was 3 years ago and that is not how pay was addressed then. Please share your thoughts and experiences. Do you share your actual numbers, do you give them the amount you want to make, can they even verify tax information, can employers ask for tax documents? Thanks.

I was working as a CFO for a health care organization and I was performing work procedures for other departments I was told by the owner to stop helping the COO and human resources do their jobs as soon as I did I was blocked out of the billing system my company phone was disconnected and the owner would not tell me why I was let go. The person who worked human resources told another company that we worked with was told that I was terminated for stealing and losing time sheets come to find d out this person actually took the time sheets home and disposed of them. At the time I worked from home and had no clue of the inner office conspiracy that was going on. The company still has not given me a termination letter and the employees was told if they speak to me they would be terminated. To add insult to injury the copy never sent in the W2s to IRS and it's holding up my taxes. I was promoted in March and let go in April.

I was looking on the Social security website and noticed my employer of almost 4 years hasnt paid in my s.s that he took out of my check. I questioned him about this and my taxes. State, fed , S.S. and Med. He said he had not gotten around to it, everytime he got the extra money his wife spent it... 3 years 9 months.. hello? I asked him about it again a few weeks later he said that he was told he didnt have to pay it in hr could claim a lose.. i told him he could claim a lose on his business but not payroll tax. He took them out of my check.. he give me a W-2. He had to pay them in. If not he is stealing from me.. because my Social security shows i have not worked in the almost 4 years ive been with him. 4 days later he let me go.. no warnings no write up. No explanation for letting me go... i asked him why he said he would not defended his reasoning for letting me go.. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. The last position I took in thinking I could save a company. Not realizing how far gone it had been. This office had former partners whom had stolen over hundred thousands dollars possibly into the millions. This company was also so far behind taxes. I thinking I was going to a better opportunity in making over 47000.00 a year and leaving a job in being an Instructor at a secondary college making 46000.00 a year. Now jobless and trying to make it my own with a Medical Billing Coding Business. It easier said than done. To have the providers to entrust you can be a hard one. I am very honest and now feel that those with dishonesty get further. I now depressed and feeling sorry for myself. Knowing i have to go out and market. I have business cards now and need to work on brochure. Help me by knowing I'm mot the only one out there.
