Not all Italians speak Italians...I do.

People either are born to be teachers or they aren’t. Some people have stronger natural intuition than others, which helps them to excel in conveying a new concept to another individual. It also helps to have compassion - understanding that when a person’s eyes don’t register comprehension it’s likely they don’t understand what you’ve just explained makes you a better teacher than some others.

I Love teaching. Teaching is to touch a life forever! I want to help train men and women to achieve their life long dream of being employed at a technical job they love. And to help them through my course work in the sciences to achieve their academic needs and goals. I have a great deal of experience in teaching, tutoring and guiding student's through their life in college and the courses I teach. Technical skills in many areas are needed and I am here to help student's achieve their life long goals-an education, then employment at a job that they need in today's society.

Hello all, Thank you in advance for anyone reading my incredibly long post. I know I have been far less engaged that I usually am and I apologize. I have been feeling a bit weighed down lately but I wanted to jump on here and give you all a life update: Many of you have read my post from last month, "Terminated and Torn" (thank you all for your support btw) so I don't want to rehash it but basically, I was terminated from a position that I loved and excelled in due to a new director starting who frankly, hated me from the second she met me.
As you know, I worked for a local university as a counselor. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the university and asked to teach a couple of classes for them which I have done in the past... they did not even know I was terminated. I told them I would come back and teach if HR was okay with it.. I was called back the next day and informed that HR approves of my return. I took on 1 of the 2 courses they offered me, one of them was not my area of expertise so I took on (of all subjects), Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Note that adjunct positions pay so little it will help very little financially but I figured I would use it to shape the future leaders of tomorrow into decent human beings unlike the likes of my ex boss. Also, while I was the schools counselor, I was accepted into a doctoral program with an employee tuition waiver. When I was terminated, I decided I was not going to give them a dime of my money and I wasn't going to do the program. As time passed, I felt like not pursuing my degree would allow the jerk of an ex boss to basically have won if that makes any sense, so I went to the orientation and felt really good to be around the faculty who thought so highly of me both as one of their former students and the positive student feedback they've received. So now next week, I am supposed to be on this campus 2x per week and I am dreading it and wondering if I made the right decision. Thoughts????????
My other concerns are that I reviewed my personnel file which finally came after I contacted the dept of labor, and not one thing in there indicates a reason for my termination or anything negative! I actually have a full file of great evaluations from my time as a graduate assistant and writing tutor prior to starting my employment with them, and ironically, positive feedback in every area that my ex boss told me I sucked at. I am thrilled that my permanent file doesn't support any of the claims she made against me, but I am very distrustful of them so I am wondering why that is. Thoughts on this?
Also, the school reactivated my work email since I am technically an employee again, and I have been receiving email after email from the students asking me when they can see me again. It is breaking my heart and making me sick that they have not even properly informed their clients of what is happening there! I have also been reached out to by several faculty members expressing their concern over referring students to the counseling center knowing what they are capable of. I don't know if this place is heartless or what, but do they not realize it tears my heart out to see these emails? Should I say anything to HR?
And finally.... I have always had a part time job with a local hospital. Somehow, even though I work a few days per month for these guys, unemployment has decided to make them the responsible party and they are not happy with me! I think I squared it away this morning but I am just so frustrated that nothing can ever be easy! So as you can see, I have busied myself with everything imaginable but nothing is helping me because A. I am still so hurt and B. Everything I am juggling and none of it gives me what I really need, insurance!
Thank you in advance to all of you wonderfully supportive folks her who have taken the time to read this. God bless you all! Anna

Is a Standard Teaching Certificate necessary to be hired as a permanent full time employee?

Henry Brooks Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” Being an educator is without a doubt an impactful and rewarding profession, but Jobcase wanted to know more, so we asked!
Check out what California teacher Jennifer had to say as she shared her years of teaching experience with Jobcase.
What do you think makes a great teacher?
