I lost my job about 10 months ago. I was/am a SR Director of a finance/accounting operations with more than 25 years experience. Haven't had many interviews or job prospects that entice me. However I have just been offered a position at a very strong company but the position is paying 1/3 less than I was making and is a supervisor position which is also a few levels down from my past positions. I also didn't feel a great connection with the manager I would be reporting to. My financial situation isn't terrible thanks to a great husband. What do I do take it and continue to look or say no thanks and wait until the right position comes along? Please share your thoughts , thanks.

I was fired from my job of 17 years last year as a type of social worker. My mother died last year, I had a stalker and I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. I am 58 with no degree. I also have a 30 year old felony ( a felony that cannot be expunged). It has kept me from many decent paying jobs. Its been a long hard road. I finally found something, not in social work, but a job. It doesn't pay well, I have a 40 minute drive, but good benefits. Here's to a new year and a new start. My question is any tips?

I think the cutting cost approach is doing bad for industry. The experienced professionals are the key persons for business. When the management feel the business is getting slow, they remove experienced persons to save money. Then what happen? They loss business because they have laid -off the most accountable experienced professionals. For the laid-off persons, they have difficulty, switch profession means loss values in their own profession, only receive payment as new hire. I have seen those often when a company is shutting down or move to oversea. A great country like America should keep a mixture of industries, should keep manufacture industries. I have not seen any president candidate talking about it seriously.

Hi Melanie, Check out this interesting read (that was previously posted on Jobcase!) about Cannabis in the workplace: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-15/pot-may-be-legal-but-you-ll-still-get-fired
