According to the World Health Organization, about 1.3 billion people, or 16% of the global population, live with a disability. Yet, disabled individuals often face barriers when accessing appropriate health and wellness resources in the workplace.
This is where collaboration becomes crucial. By working hand in hand with disabled employees, organizations can develop inclusive wellness initiatives that promote health, engagement, and overall well-being.
This is our goal for Abled Workers Unite. Together as one voice to effect positive change. Will you join us? Come on! #AWU #togetherwecan

A Myth about Hiring People with Disabilities Accommodations Are Heavy on Company Finances!
Truth: Numerous disabled employees require no additional consideration beyond what an employer already provides to their nondisabled counterparts, such as flexible work schedules, telecommuting, or restructured workstations.
According to the Job Accommodation Network's (JAN) research report "Workplace Accommodations: Low Cost, High Impact," which was updated in 2017, over half of the surveyed U.S. employers incurred no accommodation costs, while the remainder incurred a one-time expense of approximately $500 to accommodate an employee with a disability.
JAN offers free consulting services to help employers identify potential accommodations based on the nature of the disability.
HR can assist managers in comprehending that accommodations are tools that ensure a disabled employee's productivity in the same way that tools are provided to nondisabled employees to ensure their productivity.
The tools may vary, such as a computer with a larger monitor instead of one with a glare screen or a desktop rather than a laptop for remote work, but they are all simply tools to aid in productivity. Successful organizations invest in all employees and strive to find innovative solutions to drive their growth without limiting themselves.
