Why do employers avoid hiring job seekers that have been unemployed for a while?

Lost of job for excessive vacation usage. Didn't know you could loose your job for frequently using your vacation.

Ive been unemployed for nearly 6mos in Vegas. Ive applied for at least 180 jobs and nothing has come of it. Im very depressed and thinking about applying for social security. Disability!

Unemployed since March! I've applied at multiple jobs and no luck so far! I have 21+ years experience and I'm willing to relocate within so many miles.
