Check out this chart. When I was a kid in Toledo, unions were a big deal. This chart shows how they have weakened a lot. What r your thoughts about them?

What happens to picketing employees when unions go on strike? I was reading an article on the Verizon strike where an average of 36K employees originally walked off the job in protest. I understand and agree with their right to demand better wages, benefits, or working conditions but at what risk. Can those employees lose their jobs for standing with the union or are there jobs guaranteed when an agreement is met?

How much can the union take out of my paycheck if I owe arrears in dues. For example if I owe $200, can they take that all at once? I can’t get a straight answer out of my warehouse manager and the union isn’t returning my calls. I just want to have an idea so I can plan out my finances this month. Thanks for your help!

I am seeking a career in the construction trade. I've just finished a pre-apprenticeship program for construction at The Flintridge Center in Pasadena, in app I learned the value of being at work ready for everyday, that I would rather be 2hrs early than 2 minutes late, I also have my OSHA 10 and Basic First Aid/CPR certifications.I have a positive mental attitude, a willingness to learn and I can keep my mouth shut and my ears open.

I have paid almost 15 years into a union pension plan, first it took ten years to get vested now it is five years. Since I worked at different times in that fifteen years they were not consecutive they say I am not entitled to any of it. Is there something I can do.

Just recently terminated from union job. Went through arbitration process arbitration upheld. Two other white officers also involved in incident. They kept their job, I am black. Do i have any options

I’m almost at the end of my probation period for a new CNA job but this week my supervisor called me into the office to issue me a verbal warning because other employees were complaining to her claiming I’m not doing my job. I was caught off guard by her comments because I felt that I’ve been doing a good job. All the patients are pleased with my service and I get all my responsibilities and duties done on time. I’m the only male working on the floor and I’m originally from Ethiopia so my English is not that strong. I’m not familiar with the work rules in the USA but I pay union dues every paycheck. Do I qualify for union representation during these meeting or do I have to wait until I pass the 90 days probation period? I’m in fear of loosing my job everyday.

It’s not clear on the Verizon career page if the field techs and call center agents still belong to a union or if the union participation is optional.

unions can help construction crews and members to be paid like teachers meaning 9 out of `12 months in certain states.
