I felt like I'm making a difference. Cooking for the homeless and those less fortunate is a blessing. When you see those who have less your heart goes out to them. They are wonderful people who just were given a bad deal in life. When you look into your own life you see what God has done for you and what he has given you to help others.

I've been trying to seek clerical work, involving typing for a long time. The problem is, most employers want me to have experience so temp recruiters always want to put me in warehousing jobs instead; that's not what I want to do. I've been in between jobs because of that. I wouldn't mind doing a little bit of volunteer work in the clerical job field to gain more experience, but I don't know how to get to that first step.

Giving up free time while in retirement is a challenge after a lifetime of working full-time. While it is a priority to live a life post-retirement that is relaxed and rewarding, working in the community is not only financially rewarding, it is a socialization process too. I find that of equal, maybe even of greater benefit that money itself.
