The best part about working at Waste Mgmt. in the early to late 90s was the upper mgmt. had complete confidence in our abilities to run a quality in-house laboratory to insure that the landfills across N. America were not polluting the world we live on. Thanks to our lab mgmt., our #1 goal for all of us at that lab, was the safe testing of all potential polluting aspects of both our own plus client landfills, and creating good defendable data to preserve safety to the environment. The WMX lab in Geneva Il. was also very family oriented as was the company as a whole. Those days sadly are long gone. Bruce

I think people like to think of garbage collecting as a poor man’s job. But I can say from experience that it’s nothing like that. I got good benefits all around and a good salary to boot. Some people just can’t get past the stigma of being a “garbage man” and feel like working another job would be preferable. Sometimes people look down on me, but I know in most cases I make the same or more money than them anyways and I can provide for my family with the benefits WM provides. If you can work hard and ignore people’s assumptions it’s a solid job.

Everyday because “customer service is not just a department its a attitude.” The support of my co workers is rare in a environment like a call center. I am so appreciative of them. The attitudes of the customers are sustainable.
