I am interested in a call center job but am unsure if I can do it. I really enjoy customer service roles and find myself to be a patient person. But I am curious as to what a day to day looks like.
Anyone here work in a similar position? What other skills do you think I’ll need to be successful in a call center role? Thanks!!

My name is Larry and I am 57 years old and the job I am working at is something I know very well , but it seems like because of my age and back around they are trying to push me out by cutting my hours. The hour I have right now won't even pay my rent.. Don't know what to do. For person like me skill and what I know it's confusing.

This past weekend I had a customer order a HAMBURGER, onion rings and a drink. When he got to the pickup window, I repeated the order and he confirmed, paid and went along his way.
Three minutes later I see the same car FLY through the drive thru and pull up right next to the window. He is screaming how there is no cheese on his hamburger!! I explain that hamburgers do not have cheese but I could get him a slice if he’d like. He got so angry that he threw the hamburger at the window! I was so angry and annoyed. How would you have reacted in this situation?!

I was fired because I called a co-worker b*tch and this violated the respect in the workplace policy- never mind that said co-worker had been harassing me for six months and violated federal law! I made my supervisors aware of this, and still had to work with the co-worker; until I had reached the end of my "rope". On top of that the employer appealed my unemployment claim and won, and at my age no-one wants to hire me. What can I do?

I am trying to learn more about Amazon culture. When I read their job descriptions I find a disconnect between my current experience and where I want to go and I'm not sure how to proceed. I was hoping to get some advice from current/former employees.
I have worked in technical support for another tech giant and was very successful. I had high customer service marks and a high issue resolution metric. I was also trained as a team leader and obtained Senior status while employed with them. However, because I worked remote instead of in an office I found it difficult to cross the line from customer support into a more technical role and the only growth path was into leadership and management. I am not opposed to taking on a leadership role, but I still have lots of technical growth I would like to accomplish before moving into leadership. I left seeking opportunities to grow my technical knowledge. I consistently performed in the top 1% of over 30k employees.
I review a lot of remote positions available at Amazon specifically targeting those that are primarily remote. I am always excited about the direction Amazon is heading and have started working to become AWS Certified and to eventually move into the realm of machine learning and IoT technologies. However, the positions I find I do not have the expertise yet in these areas, but would love to get my foot in the proverbial door and grow with the company.
All that said, am I better off obtaining the skills outside and then applying or is the culture at Amazon such that applying for a role that I currently do satisfy the criteria will provide the flexibility to change roles as I expand my skill set in the Amazon domain?

I keep hearing about how many jobs are being created month by month yet I see my friends here on Jobcase looking and looking. Many of them have found work but not as good as what they had in the past. I have been looking and have found that yes there are a lot of jobs being created but they do not pay as much as they did in the past. For instance I know a person that worked in a factory in the 80's and then the factory closed. They have since re-opened the same factory and hired many of the same people, but for less pay. Somehow the pay scale has gone down for the same job over the past 25+ years. This has me wondering if there is an improvement in the economy or if we have all been dealt a hand from the bottom of a stacked deck? They sent the jobs overseas in the 70's and 80's because they said the costs were too high. Time has passed and the workers overseas have began demanding a living wage, and now the costs of shipping the raw goods overseas and back to the US to sell the final product is at the point it is cheaper to move the jobs back here. The buying power of the wages in 1980 is not the same as it is in 2018. the jobs are the same but the pay is actually much lower if you factor in the cost of living, food prices, gas prices (average gallon price in 1985 was 1.12 and today it is 2.90). It takes just as much gas to get to work today as it did then, but your out of pocket costs have more than doubled. There is something to the argument that the costs of raw products are higher today, and that is true, but that is the money one company passes on to another company and they do not seem to mind that, but paying the workers a wage they can raise a family on is asking too much. There was a time when factory jobs were sought by many, it meant job security and it was not uncommon for a person to walk in the door as a young person and stay for an entire career. That is not the case in todays economy, jobs come and go and they all pay about the same. I do not blame the Republicans or the Democrats either, they are two sides of the same coin, they cater to anyone who pays the money and it is us who send them there so we have to shoulder our part of the burden. I cannot remember the last law that came out of DC that did anything for any of us but I can name several that helped the companies and their profits. I am not sure what the answer is folks but I just want us to keep our eyes open. We need jobs that will allow us to raise our kids, buy a home, live without having to scrimp on everything, and maybe even take a vacation. Is this asking too much? I am open to suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Delivered a refund check in person to a very upset customer who mailed her mortgage check in error to pay for her phone bill.

There are several games in a gun shoot competion. As a referee, gun safety comes fIrst, make sure the targets are true and the same for everyone. I let view the targets in the box. After there done viewing targets. The competition will begin. Shooter will say pull and I will release the targets. I will score there targets lost or dead. Will in force all rules.
