I was reading the congratulations that I received when I took the telemarketing job back in November. The place had really changed since I worked there before and not for the better. They had a new rule called "competitive seating". They hire more people than they have seats for. If you don't get a "deal" (what they call a booking), you just might not have a seat the next day. Then you go home without pay. I used to have to show up an hour to an hour and a half just to make sure I got a seat. We had to call lists of timeshare owners that were honestly anywhere from 10 to 40 years old! No joke! I talked to people who had sold their timeshare 30 to 40 years ago. The manager's pets got to call new leads that were maybe 6 months to a year old. They got the deals, the recognition, and the really good paychecks. I hope I don't offend anyone but they were ass kissers. I don't kiss ass. I do my job to the best of my ability and get along with everybody. If we did not get deals it was because we had a "bad attitude". Funny how a bad attitude can cause a person to call lists of people with more disconnected and wrong numbers and no answers. I had a good attitude but I don't suck up. I guess that was my bad attitude. Last but not least, they played loud rap music a lot! Sometimes it was in the background of our calls. No wonder people hung up! I wear hearing aids and between the noise from the music and some of my fellow workers being loud (and throwing paper wads), I could not hear sometimes what the potential customer was always saying. When I would ask them to repeat it, they would generally hang up. Needless to say, my frustration reached maximum levels. My doctor told me to quit and said that no paycheck was worth my mental health, and she is right. The place where I worked was what is called a second chance company. In other words, they hire felons. Most of the people that I worked with had gone up on drug charges. If they were trying to stay clean, I was cool with that and did my best to encourage them. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when I discovered that the company hired sex offenders and child molesters. I have an ex-husband who tried to molest my two daughters when they were 11 and 9 years old. I helped put him in prison and I think they ought to get a life sentence! I refuse to work with them so I quit! Too many bad things. The only good thing was the paycheck which was meager at best. I am now working with Vocational Rehabilitation since I do have disabilities and a company called Preferred to find a position that pays better and is not so loud and stressful with stupid rules. Oh yes, the company that I worked for encouraged us to lie on the phone and tell what is called "third party stories" to tug at the people's heartstrings. I couldn't do that. Beware of telemarketing companies!

Hello all, I have been at my currant position for 2 years, it started out a great position at a remote location. Recently the corporate office has watching cameras every minute and question what customers come and go, etc. not only manager but coworkers have been getting involved in watching as well. Been there 2 years no raise even though our sales have been over 100% of goal every month for over 18 month in a row. I drive 1 1/2 hours every day each way and decided to search work out closer to home for a lower pay, there have been a few positions come up that match my skills, and experience that pay reasonable but I seem to keep getting overlooked or make the final 2 or 3 candidates but never seem to land one. My car is on the verge of breaking down. Thanks for listening, and good luck to all the job searchers out there.

I am a big believer in teamwork, and love working in warehouse.

The most stressful day at work is when I walked into the office and discovered that there was an emergency situation with a child that was under nitrous. The doctor was performing one man CPR while the assistant, in training, stood in the corner screaming in a panic mode. With my Navy training, I was able to step in and assist the dentist until the paramedics arrived.

Teaching was a very rewarding experience for me. I was a Kindergarten teacher for 25+ years. Many days I headed home feeling that the students had taught me more than I them. Young children are not judgmental or opinionated . They accept you as you are blemishes and all. I always wanted my students to feel comfortable at school. Positive reinforcement was my choice of discipline. One day as I was explaining to a student that I always liked him even when I didn’t like what he was doing. He said I like you when I don’t like what you are doing too.

My last client, I lost to natural death causes. However, it was I that found her body that day I went to work. This is a very devastating experience to endure. I had worked in this home for five consecutive years. It doesn't make the over whelming sense of loss any easier if it had been for a much lesser time spent with this lady. We are all human, my point is..we care in this particular field of work. It is good to talk to someone else( professionally) most companies will allow access to someone in this field, to help you get through this, without cost to you. It helps!

The people I worked with they were funny and we would have fun at work to make the day go by faster

One day at my golf course job a man came up to me and askedIf I had seen his wallet. It was stolen or lost. I told him no but I would keep an eye out for him. Then I went out to pick up golf balls and I found it in the middle of the range. I went immediately back and tried to find the man. The man was already gone. I wanted him to have his wallet so badly that I went to the pro shop found out his reservation for his nine hole then proceeded to find his information call the man so that he could once again see his wallet.

My dad worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company as a route salesman way back in 1963. He was very proud of his employment there and the product. He actually seemed upset when he saw a person drinking anything else. I still have his Coca-Cola cap and uniforms he wore while working there and I won't ever get rid of them. Every time Coke comes out with a new flavor I always want to tell him about it. He loved his time there.
