I've have a lot of experience in customer service Or Accountant over the years and I love working with people. However it's hard for me to get a job because my record. I have 3 felonies for shoplifting (which are due to mental health issues that are not resolved) and honestly any job is going to be hard to get. Id never steal from my job. I don't even steal from stores anymore either. It's a problem that's been resolved. But my background can't be resolved so what do I do to get a job? Places have said they love me and want to hire me but then the upper management does a background check and won't allow them to.

I graduated with a Bachelors in Accounting. Soon after I graduated, i worked for a CPA firm for one year and then i worked for a multi-national investment company for about three years. I had a baby and decided I need to take some time off... fast forward 7 years, I had three more kids. It didn’t make sense to work since my entire paycheck would be going to day care. Now my kids are old enough to be in school and now I am ready to start my career! Only problem is that I am not getting any calls! I know my employment gap is huge but I had a valid reason. I am getting rejection emails from even entry level positions that I am very well qualified to do!

What should I do next?

They say if you get your degree you will be able to get hired. Well I have 2 1/2 degrees and still no replies. The only thing that is keeping me from getting employed is NO experienced. I have a degrees in Accounting, Business Management, and soon to be Psychology. Where can I go from here. They tell you to go to college but want hired you. This seem a waste of time going to college. I am tired of rejection. Maybe I should move to a new State.

Just want to say it's really cool yall have this forum where you read other job hunters' stories or advice. Its frustrating and scary job searching when you're unemployed and you know your money is only going to last a few more weeks. Is there anybody here in the Houston area? I'm an accountant and there are hundreds of jobs but seems like 1000 applicants to every job I apply to. I'll get calls and then its like they just forget about me, I think they have so many to choose from that they get overwhelmed. I guess its better than no job postings. Anyways...I have found this forum helpful, it helps to hear others' stories and see that I'm not alone during this anxious time...wish all of you good luck!

Hi all, I would like to vent if I may so here. I have just celebrated 10 years of living with lupus. I also have a loss of hearing that's about 5 years because of having Lupus. I haven't has a job since 2012 because I was so sick. Fast forward to 2016 started feeling better health wise enrolled in school to complete the master degree in accounting. I graduated last year June 2018. I also have been volunteering to work at the Lupus Society of IL because I was told it will help with getting out and networking. So this year I've put out 100 hundreds of applications and have recruiters looking. I have applied for internships to even try to get in the door but it seems they want younger college kids still in school. It gets interviews, and I have come very close to having my dream job but turn around and get turned down I'm not giving up but it is very hard.
