I am a very qualified Mammogram Technician, I am also an experienced QC Technician, I have been solely responsible for all quality assurance records, and I actually sit in just myself with the Federal Inspections, and submit necessary documents for State accreditation. I have a full time job that I am very much under paid at, and hold a per diem position at a large reputable hospital. However I am very low on the totem pole at the hospital for anything part time or full time. I have applied at other large health care facilities and hospitals with no response. I have applied several times to the same 3 hospitals with no reply. What am I doing wrong, my qualifications are good, but I do not include a cover letter with my resume, and I am using a resume that has only a few updates here and there, could it be that, please help.. I am really looking to advance from my current full time job. Additionally, I am not that young, I will be 60 this year, not sure if that's the problem or not. Tips and advice would be great, thanks.

So many cultures around the world revier their older generations. They ask for answers that only can come from age and experience. They are a valued member of society. In America it is just the opposite. In fact, we have to laws in place to protect those individuals over 40. Experience is not valued and respected. "Your just to old to work here".

Is it still possible to obtain a better than minimum wage employment opportunity at 60 yrs and older?

At 56 years old, I have been unemployed for close to two years now. I have three months of benefits left, with over 38 years experience working as certified welder you would think employers would be interested. I have a solid resume with extensive references, but I can't even get a call back. But the most frustrating part is, reading about the high demand for welders. If this is true I certainly haven't reaped the rewards. I'm convinced that my resume is reviewed them gets tossed into the golden oldies pile. Scott McGraw Erie PA.

Have anyone been working at a job for so long until you know it's time to leave for financial growth but you having mixed feelings because he's been at the job for so long but at the same time it's really not paying the bills like you absolutely wanted to and you feel like you may or may not be able to find another job due to your age if you leave so you feel like you're stuck

Age has a lot to do with people wanting not to hire u because of age i can work any of these young people under the table i am reliable never late dont call in sick and i do my job and most of the time somebody elses

Read sorry, not sorry. It's not youth against elderly. More so about those in power against fairness and equality. We all want to support ourselves and families, and the decisions to hire, or not should be based on ability to do the job well and not on any prejudice of any group. That comment was for the change in unfair business practices. Steve in Indy.

It seems as you get past the age of 30 employment is harder to achieve because employers seem to want younger ...It doesn't seem to matter if you have over 15 years of exp in a certain field or even if you are more than capable of doing the job at hand..

How old do you have to be to work there?

Need your suggestions. I am a Senior - 30 years HRM experience. When going into an interview (Have 1 this week), I am tempted to talk to the elephant in the room (age) and address concerns up front. What would you do and how ? Can you give me some pointers? Much appreciated!
