I was flaged down one morning on my way to work, by the way I was existed to get there. I was 45 min early. I was stopped because of a car vs street light, at a very high speed. The man who flagged me down was an X-ray tech. I found out as I handed him a pair of gloves.I reassured him I'd talk him through it. Now this was before cell phones and I needed two ambulances. The mother of the 5 year old was ambulatory. I told her in a gental voice please go up to the house and call 911. While I worked on the child I could tell he was in respiratory arrest, with strong carotid pulse. I could feel it as I held C spine. Keeping the integrity of his C spine, I alined his full spine. In doing so I felt crepitis from his mandable. He still wasn't awake but started cry and in doing so he was releasing the fluid from his mouth. Two ambulances arrived. One with two paramedics. They asked me if I could drive them to the trauma center. I Had about 10 min until I needed to log on. I said," yes" and I log on to there. It's about a 20 min ride with lights and sirens. Both patients made it. And something happened that never is expected in this job. The mother came to fi.d me to thank me. I simply said," you don't need to thank me. You helped the most. You called 911. That was theost important part to getting them here where they need to be.'" Then I thanked her.
