I do a lot of things but have been looking into working in the restaurant world again.... all the corporate sites have an evaluation questionnaire, takes 15, 20 minutes to answer, all based on how you would react in specific situations... recently... talking with a manager at a place I applied for.. he said. He will look at my application on line and see if I got a 65% or above... otherwise he can't call me. Is there a specific matrix for answering the questions?

Even fill out an online job application for some place like Family Dollar and never get called? Your application and experience show that you are very capable of friendly customer service, lifting boxes, stocking, and running a cash register. Then you go to that place later and see who they hired. You think they were digging from the bottom of the barrel when hired that one. What am I doing wrong? I live less than a half mile away, people in town know me, .. oh yeah the locals are not the folks reading the applications, and my personality answers were filtered out. ( The dumbest thing are the personality questions, they do not belong on the application) Anyone know the trick to answering them correctly?

A Human Resources Manager told me that more companies are opting to test applicants for skill and personality performance first before looking at a resume. I think this method is definitely going to cut back on discrimination and personal biases commonly practiced in the employment community. I know there’s a lot of managers out there that immediately dismiss my application if they can’t pronounce my name. Anyone have any experience with this type of blind hiring process?

Can u tell me what is the point of assessment question at end of job application and why they started in the first place why they know who they want to hired or they already know whether or not they going to hired anyway they base your answer on if u qualify or not every assessment questions they always say be honest and there no right or wrong answer but at the same time u be honest and u still don't get hired so what is the point even if u have the right qualifications please explain to me.

I am not sure whose bright idea it was to come up with doing assessment tests for any and every position even if you are applying for a janitorial job. I have always been skeptical of any words starting with the words "Ass" what do they mean exactly and what purpose does it really serves other than to basically waste 45 minutes or more of your time for a job that pays around 10 to 13 an hour. Perhaps is to see if you have postal or suicidal tendencies that might occur while performing a boring job. It used to be that sending a resume and a cover letter was enough to apply for a job if you met the job description. now get to fill out the application load your resume and cover letter and a crazy non related Assessment test for an hour or more. Can anyone tell me why this is necessary and if they actually server the purpose for which it was intended.. Thank you very much.

Why is it you register with these placement agencies; go thru all the testing, and hear nothing back?

I had brain surgery in 2005. I have not worked since then but now I need to go back to work. When I did work I did Administrative, office assistant and clerk. When I apply for jobs I get so close but don't get the job because I don't do well testing. I know that I am qualified to do the job. I just don't test well.

I had, 2 years ago, failed it. I was accused of trafficking illegal items during my work schedule, which is horse s***. I work at a school I told the administrator, why on earth would I put myself, children and staff, and my family into that type of situation. I tried not to sound as if I thought it was ridiculous to think I do that but to the administrators response "the machine doesn't lie". I did however, mention that when I had graduated from High School, I didn't hang out with the best of friends in society. I had a couple of friends and one in particular did deal drugs. But at the time I had no idea or didn't think anything of it. But I stated that was 20 + years ago and how would that have any significance to now?. Plus I was accused of using counter measures and manipulating my physiological , or something like that. Anyways, the tested lasted 7 hours, just so I can get washed out of the testing process. A whole 4 years of looking forward , staying in shape and as I have always been, law abiding. Scott free of any convictions or misdemeanors, traffic tix, no debt. I tried to request to retest or to have an adjudication of the results but seemed I was being ignored. But oh well, it was a year ago. So, has anyone else experienced this? And for what reason if so? Is there some other underlying focus on why? I am thinking either a quota needs to be reached and polygraphers need jobs. Why else would they waste time and waste my time if they were going to disqualify me anyways from the get go.
