@Isidro Luna, most background check agencies conduct checks that include credit, social media activity, rental history, criminal records and more. Employers want to ensure they are hiring an asset rather than hiring a high risk employee. They are looking for responsible financial and social behaviors. All social media is open to public scrutiny.

What do you do if you were denied a job because of information that was in your report and the information was prior to the years that the report said they were searching? #backgroundcheck

Ok so here we go again!! I have a Bachelor’s in English and a Minor in Creative Writing from UofH. Unfortunately I also have a felony for possession of marijuanna from 1985. I always inform them of this when I am asked but the response I always get is noone gets a felony for possession. My reaponse to that is nowadays noone get a felony for possession but back in 1985 a black man with two joints is going to jail. My dream job was to always be a teacher but because of my background I have been denied. I went through the teacher’s certification program, did my internship and even worked as a longterm sub/teacher assist. However, whenever I apply for a permanent teacher position my background check becomes a red flag. Whats crazy is they let me be a longterm sub for seven months but they wouldnt hire me permanently. So with my background I can be in class with kids as a sub but not as a real teacher and they both require the same background check. This is real baffeling to me. #backgroundcheck #jobsearch

While some work from home jobs may overlook a background check requirement, it is important to remember that background checks are a common practice among employers. However, there are still options available. Freelance writing, graphic design, online tutoring, and virtual assisting are some of the popular work from home jobs that may not typically require background checks. Remember to check with each individual employer for their specific hiring process. Utilizing job search providers such as Jobcase can also help you find work from home jobs and filter search results based on specific requirements.

I have worked full time from home for 10 years. I have yet to be employed by a company that does not require both a background check and a drug test. I have a degree in medical transcription, Eastern Asian Studies, and am back in school for HIT. I have worked for hospitals, law enforcement agencies, legal agencies, and now I work for the US government. Because I work with sensitive information, information protected HIPAA, have a TS/SCI clearance and a Public Trust Clearance, having a squeaky clean background check is an absolute must, especially if you plan on that being your actual job. I make almost $40 an hour working full time from home with all the benefits, PTO, separate sick days, 13 paid holidays, matching 401K, but these are not the types of jobs that just anyone can do. The hiring process is just as rigorous, if not more so, than an in person interview process as you have to be trusted to be able to work without direct supervision and still complete the work given to the the standards expected by your company. Working from home is not an easy way to make money if you are not self-motivated and cannot be trusted to manage yourself as you would in an in-office environment.

I was sentenced 20 years ago and served 5 and a half years in prison. My background has a felon on it for a non violent, non drug conviction. Since 20 years I have had no other arrests or judgements. I am a senior citizen just trying to get a good paying job, but the background check causes problem for me, despite how long ago that situation happened. Can someone let me know where I can apply for a good job? #backgroundcheck #jobsearch

Once you have a felony on your record, it becomes significantly more challenging to find a job. One promising option for convicted felons is a delivery job. While not every employer will hire someone with a felony conviction, plenty will. Here are a few delivery companies who hire felons; UPS UberEats Instacart RR Transportation DoorDash GrubHub Postmates Amazon Shipt Also many trucking companies will hire felons!
