In 1923 after witnessing a crash near his home, he worked hard to invent the 3-signal traffic device we now know as the traffic light. You can’t talk about Jazz without hearing the name Duke Ellington. Duke won 12 Grammy Awards - 9 while he was alive and composed the hit song “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.” Today’s generation of music is shaped by Duke Ellington’s influence. #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth

Shirley Chisholm was the first Black woman to be elected to Congress - working on the Education and Labor Committee and also helped form the Black Caucus. In 1972, she made history again, becoming the first Black woman to run for president. #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth
