I was hired and assigned in Camden to teach at risk students and I had great support from the city board of education. I began my teaching experience at Hatch Middle School/mainstream education. I enjoyed the experience and support I got from the administration and faculty, Camden has a great education program with great accomplishments at Camden High, Hatch Middle, and Cream. My advice to anyone considering applying for a teacher position at the Camden City Board of Education is to do so. I gained my greatest teaching experiences at the Camden, NJ Board of Education Schools.

I suppose the biggest mistake was the expectation of at grade level students. After learning what I was up against, i.e. ; students with hardly a 3d grade reading level in the 9th and 10th grade. I had to reorganize lesson plans and incorporate in those plans teaching reading for understanding obtaining the discipline objective.

A most stressful day in my vocational education shop was the installation of new equipment and the effort it took to control the class while doing so.

If I recall it was the principal there who at the time disliked my casual behavior with some of the students. He explained a good point about your presentation before students in regard to what I wanted to achieve.

I enjoyed the teamwork. At Fetters High in Camden I was hired as one of several start up teachers as we organized the facility for special needs students / at risk. I had great support from the school board to implement a pre-vocational education program for student who had been dispelled from the mainstream of education in the system.
