What can I do about background checks??? I keep getting job offers but they are rescinded as soon as the background check comes back. I just divorced an extremely abusive man that I had been married to for (22) years. I fell asleep in my truck after a night if drinking and his girlfriend called the police and told them! Unfortunately I didn’t take the keys out of the ignition so I got arrested for dui! Other charge was felony forgery (after him not paying support and the house was in foreclosure and I couldn’t buy groceries for our twins! I signed his name and cashed a check that was made out to both of us). We had BOTH signed each other’s names numerous times over the 22 yrs of marriage. Found out it’s illegal!! After paying $10k to my lawyer, I got it dropped to misdemeanor but it’s listed as attempted theft! Forgery sounds better. Now it sounds like I tried to STEAL something. Any advice? What can i do? I am over 50, have a college degree, been out of the workforce since 2013. Just trying to return. I have had numerous interviews since starting my search. Is there ANYTHING I can do?? TIA

I was hired in may of 2017 as a temp worker, now the company has decided to give me the job as a full time employee. I am extremely excited for this opportunity. My advice to everyone is that hard work truly pays off, go to school, get your degree, and look for opportunities. Opportunities are not going to find you, you have to find them.

Received numerous emails and had a phone conversation with a few Insurance Companies ( State Farm, New York Life , Met Life ,etc. ) Told me that they saw my resume online and that I was a perfect candidate for a position with their company. I don't understand how a BS degree and 30 plus years in the medical field makes me perfect for a position with an Insurance company WTF??

There is a program through the US Government called Job Corps that provides free career training for young adults (16-18) from low income families. If you are between 18 and 24, admission is based upon individual income of the applicant. So if you are unemployed and want to learn a valuable skill, this program might be for you!

The program offers training in an amazing variety of career options from culinary arts to IT and Business Administration and many jobs in between.

•Most locations offer a college type experience with participants living in a dormitory on a campus •Job Corps is FREE to qualifying students •Students receive a living expense payment that increases as you progress through the program •They have career counselors and job placement programs to help ensure you land a job in the field for which you trained

I know people who have gone through the culinary arts program and are working in fine dining right now.

It does have rules that you are REQUIRED to follow and they are pretty strict. But if you are mature enough to follow the rules, you could earn valuable skills training and land your dream job.

For more information including instructions on how to apply, visit:

https://www.jobcorps.gov/

Please note, I am not a representative of Job Corps, I just know several people who have benefited from it. It is not a well known program, but it can put you on the path to career success. If you have any questions, please visit the link!

I recently got my certifications in ISO 9000, ISO 9001 and my lean green belt six sigma training. I have some relevant experience using these exercises in previous employers, but I can't get my foot in the door for an interview.
