My #ReddingJetcenter.Reddingairport advice

Well, sure. But a license is required, and these men have been there a long time. There is little need of new employees as turnover is slow. Professionals retain employment. What jobs that could be had there is Line service. Fueling Aircraft. Even then it's a very responsible position requiring safety, not for the average Joe. They train for this position.

Something I learned at #Heathkit/ZenithCorrespondenceClass

Taking the Heath/Zenith courses at home gave me the ability to learn practically all Electronics Theory before I started college. I was taking these during my high-school years. I learned a lot, the courses were easy (for the most part) and I was tested by Heath/Zenith on every course and received a Certificate of Completion for every course. Lastly it allowed me to graduate #1 in my class when I finally went to college.

How long does it take for someone to actually know they need help from a certified electrician in industrial/ commercial ? I have 20 years experience and over 7000 hours of on hand work history.

I have been considering going back to school or getting some sort of training to help me find work I would enjoy. As part of my research I took several career aptitude or assessment tests. The common area that came back were different positions in the IT field. It did not surprise me as I have always enjoyed working on or around computers.

Since then I have been doing more and more research into possible training in the area either online, in clas, or self-paced training. I know there are a lot of companies like Mycomputercareer.com or new horizons that offer faster certifications and I wonder if that has "cheapened" the outlook in the industry. I have always been weary of get educated (rich) quick programs because there is no such thing as a quick fix in my opinion. I already have a degree in Economics however other than opening doors for entry level positions it does not appear to help me much.

My question is while I am self disciplines enough to work towards certifications on my own is it worth it? Do employers take someone seriously that works towards getting A+, Network+, Security+, and CCNA Routing and Switching or is that even the right certifications I should work toward? Should I focus on CCNA and work toward a specific area such as Data Center or Security? I've tried talking to various programs out there but they are as expected bias towards their program or their way of training. I've seen some programs that say Comptia certification is useless and others that say it creates a foundation for later more specific training.

I am not really seeking reassurances because I understand you are going to get out of any program or training what you put in, but rather advice on a starting point. Are there certaincertifications that are not worth it?

I can say I have looked at listings for position postings and again I get mixed reviews.

Thanks in advance for any information.
